    Hello everyone,

    I have a new T60 and a new X60 Tablet PC that our company purchased recently. Both machines were slow to startup Internet Explorer 7. It would say "Connecting..." for about 10 seconds before it started to even download a page. Same when you clicked for a "New Tab" or if the web page did a popup.

    The culprit was an "Add-On" from Lenovo for their Password Manager. When we DISABLED the add-on, IE7 loaded instantly.

    To test to see if you have the same problem open IE7 regularly (with all managed add-ons ENABLED), then run the following command to open IE7 with all managed add-ons DISABLED, and see the speed difference:
    Start --> Run: iexplore.exe -extoff

    Here is how to disable it:
    1. From IE7 click "Tools --> Internet Options"
    2. From the "Programs" tab click the "Manage Add-ons" button
    3. Find the object named: CPwmIEBrowserHelper Object
    DISABLE that object
    4. Click OK until you exit out of the options.
    5. Restart IE and see if it speeds it up

    Hopefully this helps some of you out there who were as frustrated by the IE7 startup/new-tabs/popup delays as we were.

    Che che, well maybe Lenovo should make a plugin for Firefox too... :p

    There is nothing wrong with IE in this case, just a very slow plugin. :D

    Thanks VirtueTech. Although I use Firefox, there are some school websites that I need to use IE and the slowness was very annoying.

    For me when receiving a new TP a clean OS install will do the job!

    I knew there was no way my T61p could be slower than my Dell P4M 1.8 Ghz. Thanks much! If there are any other plugins worth disabling, please update this thread.
