I recently purchased a T60p with a TMD display. I'm a little concerned about the quality of the TMD display given the posts on this forum and wanted to get more input from you guys. If anyone has the TMD display and can offer more feedback, both good or bad, I would really appreciate it.
I'm trying to keep an open mind about this as LCD displays can be quite subjective. I've noticed that all the negative posts about the TMD displays are from a few users so there might be a small sample size bias. Somebody has also posted that the response time of the TMD display is 50ms while the Samsung is 25ms. However, the source of the information is from TMD's website which specifies the max response time while Samsung does not go into detail of how the measurement was made. I've noticed that specs for contrast ratio, response time, viewing angles, etc rarely have any relevance to how a display actually looks. I would like to believe that Lenovo would not substitute components that have completely different specs as that would be fraudulent. I've seen the pictures of the two displays flickr but it's really hard to tell the difference from a small jpg.
I'm a little hesitant to even open the box given Lenovo's return policy. If the TMD display truely is inferior to the Samsung, I will just ship this unit back.

I changed my mind after my first T60 order and ordered another unit and am going to return the first one back.
The first one (2613HJU) came with a Samsung LCD and the second one (2613CTO) came with a TMD LCD.
As far as I can tell they are both the same - don't know how to run any other tests.
However at present I like the TMD better because the Samsung one has a dead pixel on it! Its just one small red one - but it is there...
Don't know if that helps? -
Is TMD, Toshiba Matsus_hita Display Technologies?
I am guessing that Toshiba and Panasonic can make LCDs that are just as good as Samsung's. -
TMD = Toshiba Matsu****a Display Technologies
