    Hi!

I have a brand new thinkpad attached to an external monitor. The monitor is a 19" wide screen Acer, supporting resolution upto 1440X900. The problem is, sometimes there is a distortion of image (like some waves most visible on the edges of the windows), looks like some interference. The monitor is fine, since it works fine with my older laptop.

What do you people think could be the problem? This interference does not occur continuously, but apprear for sometime and goes off, and then come back again. The graphic card is Nvidia 9300M.

    Any help is highly appreciated.

    Thanks for your time.

Are you using the analog VGA connection?

yeah, its a VGA. I dont think there is anything with the monitor or the cable, i just plugged out the old notebook and I didnt have any issue with it. I am not using it as a dual monitor, this external monitor is the primary and only monitor for my TP.

Here's some more info, if i reduce the resolution to 1280x1024 then i dont see any waves forming. Works ok then, but at that resolution the images are somewhat stretched (well its understandable since that's not the right resolution for this monitor). I tried another external LCD, which only supports 1280x1024 as the highest possible resolution and there it worked as well. Both the external monitor that I have tried, I used the VGA port.

Any ideas guys? I really need to make it work! need help!!!!
