Hey there. The machine in question is the T400 in my sig.

Thinkvantage Toolbox is set to run its hardware scan once a month. It came up with a couple of errors a few days ago... apparently the new WD 640GB HDD I bought two months ago was failing(which I'm glad I got that heads up; I ended up backing everything up), but I also received a 'warning' on the multicore test of the processor section. I know that my multicore setting in the BIOS is enabled, so what might be the deal? Is my processor wonky? Everything seems to be functioning well right now, but I've never heard of a processor going bad unless it was abused somehow(static zap, deliberate OCing, etc). Any thoughts as to what might be going on?

And, if I have to get it repaired, I've got a little bit of a dilemma as well. I currently have about a year and a half of factory warranty remaining, so the fix wold be as simple as sending it back to Lenovo. However, as I'm usually the 'Frankenstein' modder of my thinkPads, I've been seriously considering just getting a faster processor and upgrading it myself. It'll void the warranty, sure, but I'm not extremely concerned about it. However, for either high-end processor I'm wanting(either P9700 or T9900) I'm seeing prices of around $350-400... makes my already-abused wallet cringe. So... any thoughts on this, also?

You can use some software to stress test your CPU, such as orthos/intelburntest. if these tests fail, that means your CPU's unstable. It may cause of mainboard or CPU, but in all cases, you'll get your T400 to support center.

Well, I'm currently on the T400 and have been running two instances of Orthos(one stressing each core) for the past half hour. No errors at all thus far. Maybe it's a bug inside the TV software?
