    TVTuner or not?

    I'm in the middle of building my Y550 and trying to decide between:

    TV Tuner
    NO DIGITAL(ATS) TV [subtract $46.00]

    DIGITAL(ATS) TV


    Can somebody please help me decide if the digital is necessary? Should I pay the extra $46? What does it do exactly??

    PLEEEEEAAAASE--Can't somebody help me so I can finalize my purchase? Right now I'm leaning toward not getting the digital tuner as I can't think of any immediate need. But I don't even have an HDTV--just a Comcast HD Box going to my 10 year old analog TV--so I don't understand the repercussions of this.

    Please observe the 24 hour for bumping posts.

    However, the Digital (ATS) TV likely means it has an ATSC tuner. This means you could attach a simple antenna and get free over the air HD signals (NBC, CBS, PBS, Fox, ABC, CW, and maybe a few others).

    The other tuner probably only supports NTSC and will work with analog cable only.
