I have been looking for a W520 through a couple Lenovo resellers. I usually compare the model number the reseller lists with the model numbers in the fantastic Tabook resource.

However - I recently came across a pricing difference that I can't explain. I found several of the top-seller laptops (first section of models for the W520) for prices < $3,000 (sometimes a lot less). Today I found model 4282-4YU for a little over $3,000. After comparing specs I can't really see why the price is so much different.

The only thing that stands out is that the 4282-4YU model is listed as having "Global" but I can't for the life of me understand what this means. The warranty listed in the Tabook between the models doesn't appear to be different.

Any thoughts? I must be missing something here...

    Thanks,

    - Bluepixel

It means that model is available worldwide. It's for companies that have far-flung operations and want to standardize.
