I've been hearing about this program on the forums... I have an AmEx, how does it work? From what I understand - you simply buy it as you would normally do, and then 10% comes off (as is the current promotion) correct?

Enroll with your AMEX card first:
https://www142.americanexpress.com/tailormade/cmenrollStep1.do?s=23
*5% off purchases between $1,100 and $1,299.99
*7% off purchases between $1,300 and $1,599.99
*10% off purchases of $1,600 and higher -
I called tailormade today. It's not an instant discount. It's more like a "cash back."
Say you buy your notebook for $1300. You still pay $1300, however after 6-8 weeks you will be credited back a certain percentage (in this case 10% since the purchase is over $1299). -
Oh ok. Thank you for the info!

They did it 2 days after shipping for me.

Damn, I just realized a potential problem: according to this:
*5% off purchases between $1,100 and $1,299.99
*7% off purchases between $1,300 and $1,599.99
*10% off purchases of $1,600 and higher
My total is less than $1000, does it mean I won't get any tailormade discount?? -
Looks like it =[ You could always go call and ask, but it looks like you wont =[

I'll consider canceling it Monday and restart the whole thing to get a better config--will probably lose the july coupon savings
-
Are you talking about Tailormade? I mean obviously the account you made for Tailormade will show the amount you saved. But I think it will in fact take 6-8 weeks for you to actually get credit on your AMEX account.
Just check your AMEX billing statement. Which amount is charged on your account? The discounted amount (as in actual price - 5 (or 10) % off) or the amount you paid when you checked out? -
It might not be worth it. Think about it.
Say you paid $1000 - 10% = $900 + tax = $ 970 to 990
If you cancel...
$1100 + tax = 1170 to 1200 - 5 % = $1111 to 1140 -
flight#24, yeah I know. I have to review my config and see if it's worth. Btw I think the minimum $1100 is the total charge, including tax.
