I asked TankGuys if they could stock some X18-M G2 drives. The guy has delivered (great reseller for uncommon items).

He has the 80GB up now for $250 and the 160GB for $460.

Perhaps this would be better posted in the Tech Bargains subforum. Could be attractive to T400s or X301 owners that are currently running on a conventional hard drive.

    Thanks for the post.

FYI, Provantage (a very reliable seller for computer parts and 'Topseller' ThinkPads') has the x-18M G2 80GB for $232.

I believe this has some merit in the ThinkPad forum due to the x300, x301, T400s, and T410s using 1.8" drives. It was widely reported by several people (myself included) that the x-18M G2 did not exist for several months.

NOTE - This is a 1.8" Micro-SATA SSD and you will need an adapter (e.g. FRU 42W8019) to use this in a laptop with a 2.5" SATA bay (e.g. x200, T500, et. al.).

    That's what I was thinking, so I didn't move it ;)

Good point - although, if you are using a Thinkpad that supports 2.5" drives, it would probably be more worth it to buy the cheaper X25-M G2 SSD. The minor weight savings (difference likely in grams) is not worth the price premium.

Is there a price premium? Provantage has the x18-M G2 for $232. Who offers the x25-M G2 for less than that? To me at least the added flexibility of a 1.8" SSD is worth a small premium (of course I already have the adapter).

Edit - Just checked Newegg. x25-M G2 is $300 for retail and $220 for OEM.

$460 is not a bad price, considering newegg charges the X25-M 160GB $499 and $429.99, for the OEM version and the retail version, respectively.

Good news for people using X300/X301/T400s/T410s
