Well...now I don't think I am going to wait for it.

I have a widescreen setup as my desktop, and really have no need for it or its premium price over the standard 4:3 aspect. I am assuming the widescreen would be more expensive.

Besides...I'm not sure if I want Vista on my notebook or not.

WELL if this is really true, I am sort of disappointed that I did not wait two months for my T60.

I'm somewhat skeptical of this though I have not see the motherboard inside a T60 this would imply a new shorter screen than the 14" 4:3, I suppose they could use a wider bezel. The 15.4" screen is easy because that's about the same height as the 14.1. Or do they rework the motherboard for ever screen size I guess there are ports on both sides...

The fact that they made one wide screen may mean more than one I guess. I'd certainly be interested if it were less heavy than the 14' 4:3...

Overall, Widescreen LCDs for laptops are cheaper to produce than standard aspect ratio. It could go either way. The 15.4" T60 WS doesn't seem anymore expensive than regular aspect machines.

As for weight, I can't comment on that. I guess overall footprint of a WS is smaller than standard aspect, but granted components are the same within, a little less mag allow/material will likely save weight only marginally.

Insider info? I'm doubtful as well. Also, he asked you to wait until February to make your decision, why would he care?

    Finally, he never came back...

Im sure they will offer the ws version of the 14". To me it only makes sence, however, Im tired of waiting. Since I went ahead and ordered my T60, hopefully I will get it without Vista. Im not looking forward to learning a new OS and dealing with the bugs right now. I just want a nice, stable platform, especially since I am getting into what is called GIS mapping, which is GPS related. This laptop will be mounted in my truck, so I believe a standard aspect screen would be the best route to take. Also, at the same time, avoiding Vista, which to me, seems as if it will substaintialy decrease overall battery life.

bfd: As this machine will be mounted in your truck, and unless you get an A/C car adapter, did you opt for the 9-cell battery? I'd agree with having a standard aspect screen for your use.

I did opt for the 9cell, since it is a free upgrade currently.

Iwon't be running an AC adapter for awhile, so I belive the 9cell will be plenty as it probably won't see more thn 6 hours of use a day.

I caught wind that a widescreen 14" T60 will be a reality, but certainly not Feb. 20th. Lat April / Early May is what I've been told and it might not even be the T60 but the update to the T60 that comes with Santa Rosa.

    so where's the 14" widescreen?
And why is lenovo so dumb about the options? Its like they don't want you to get some top of the line specifications if you choose widescreen in the T-series - for example, I can't get the FireGL card if I want a widescreen. Well why the hell not? Why should I settle for a less powerful video card if I want widescreen? Tired of waiting on Lenovo to clean up their act and restructure things.

If it's coming out when Santa Rosa is out, I'm going to bet that this machine is going to be pretty darn expensive.

I don't know much, but I do know that yes there will be some type of update to the T series in that time frame.
