    Hey guys,

I have the 90w power brick, standard with the 15.4" T61/T61p ThinkPads. I'm noticing that it can sometimes get so warm that it can't be handled. Sometimes this is when it gets caught between the couch cushions while I'm working, but I've never had one of my Dell 90w models get quite this warm under use. I just unplugged it two minutes ago, and it's still uncomfortable to touch.

Can anyone tell me what your experiences are with this?

My T60's 90W power brick gets just slightly warm--as in just a few degrees above ambient warm. My old-but-still-kicking Toshiba Satellite 5205's 75W power brick OTOH gets freaking hot.

mine only gets slightly warm not matter how hard I push it. Never does it get too hot to handle. You might want to RMA it, IBM is real good about these types of things and you wont have to pay a dime (or be without an AC power brick).

My current brick (brick #3) gets very hot to the touch.

FWIW, I did have one melt on me. I can't remember if it was 1 or 2. One of them melted the plastic and the other had very audible arcing inside.

Hmm...mine gets really warm, but I am still able to handle it. Just don't set anything flammable close to it I guess. :p

How warm/hot? Depends on if it is charging or not.
If your battery is nearly exhausted and it will require prolonged charging the brick will get hot.

My T60's 90W brick gets only slightly warm... as Peter123 said, it will get a little bit hotter when you are charging it as it is providing power both to charge while run the laptop at the same time. Otherwise, with the battery charged and laptop runnign off AC power, it shouldn't be very warm. You also have to consider time that it has been charging / connected.

But like I said mine has always been only a little warm, never very hot.
