I have a weird issue with an IBM Thinkpad Z60m. Every now and then it gets what looks and acts like a dead pixel. Only difference is that a reboot fixes it. Just wondering if anybody else has had this issue, or might know how to prevent it.

    Thanks

Dead pixels that come and go are possible. I had one of those on an old ThinkPad several years ago. The pixel would go bad for days at a time and then become fully functional again. I am afraid I cannot offer a solution for this problem. In my case the display was fine again after several weeks with the on-and-off dead pixel.

I think there is this program called pixelbuddy or something. I think it can attempt to permanently leave an individual pixel black or some other color.
