Is there some program that can swap the Fn key and left CTRL key?
I'm used to having CTRL key on the lower left corner, and I like to use CTRL+F4 to close tabs in Firefox, but I always end up putting my computer to sleep :(

The FN key cannot be swapped. You'll get used to it after a while.

Yeah, if this were my only computer I can see that I can train myself to adjust, but I don't think I will get used to it since I have 4 other computers with normal keyboards.

    I've adjusted.

Unfortunately, there is no workaround or fix for it.

You can change the fn F4 combo to not be sleep. That will save time while you get used to it.

I think the Fn key is controlled by BIOS, so it can't be changed via software.

Might be, and probably am, wrong.

I'm pretty sure it has to do with the circuitry of the keyboard itself. I think it modified the code of the key sent to the OS, rather than the OS recognizing it as two separate keys being pressed...

Interesting that in HP nx/nw 8xxx laptops both CTRL and Fn are situated 'correctly', but in BIOS you can turn on the 'ThinkPad mode' ;)

I must just be weird then, because I like the location of the Fn key on the Thinkpads.

Its not about the Fn key, its where the CTRL key is that bothers me.

Hasn't the Fn key always been in that location on thinkpads? I must be weird too because to me its not an issue either.

I like where its at. For me, it's easier to hit the CTRL key where its placement is. I think that's the reason the put the FN key where its at. To hit the FN key, you have to stretch your pinky finger farther, if you have your left hand placed on the ASDF keys, for me its a simple drop from the A key to hit CTRL.

Haha I've adjusted to my TP just fine. This from years of typing on Toshiba laptop keyboards which are just plain freaky different compared to other laptop brands.

These days I just wish my venerable Satellite 5205, which still runs to perfectly fine to this very day, had a ThinkLight like my T60.
