Its so simple, I'm ticked I didn't think of it earlier. Two pieces of 1 1/2" or so electrical tape and the wobble problem has been solved. It ain't pretty, and it may not last 5 years, but I'll take it; 90% of the wobble is gone, and with it the annoying rattle sound. Take a look. Maybe it will work for you too.

If you do try this mod, the only thing to watch out for is on the left hand side. Make sure you don't cover up the slot for the latch on the lappy.

You are on the right track, but that is too much tape, and it will get all funky over time and peal off because there is little contact to the actual plastic underneath.

I figure I should have posted these before, but this is what I came up with. Still using electrical tape, but much less. This puts it on the laptop, not the battery. You just need to make sure you cut it short enough so it doesn't stick out the top. You also need to lay it on slowly, and use your fingernail to work it on around the slotted section.

Nerds can never survive without electical tape  :p

You could be right diet. Although I really like how solidly the battery stays in place now. I did try your solution first, and found it still rattled too much for my tastes.

    Good stuff either way!

This one might take some effort to pull off, but it occurred to me that one could apply a substance to the top and bottom edges of the track, effectively making it thicker. The best I can think of is to tape off the in-facing side of the ridge, then possibly lay down some sort of acrylic (clear nail polish comes to mind ... maybe colored to make it easy to spot booboos before they dry.

Wouldn't the nail polish wear away quickly?
