I've been through the wring with Lenovo sales and I think I was just a casual customer but there is Quite a history:
On Oct 4th, I order a 4gb 2.4 GHZ T61p which has an ESD of 10/23
At the time the 2.4 ghz process was the fastest they made. After I order they came out with a 2.6 Ghz. The proce of everything was about $3400
I requested to alter my order to the 2.6 Ghz model and I received a quote for $4100. I called to ask why a quote? When I talked to sales and they saw what i had ordered and they expressed shock at the $700 price increase.
In the mean time, a friend had offered me an employee purchase plan. So sales and I talked at over and they canceled my order and refile my order on the employee purchase for about $3100. We sighed that contract and every thing was fine. ESD was Mid Nov.
Three days later I received notice that the ESD had slipped to Jan.
Also that evening, I was contacted by the credit dept and told that a machine did not clear - It had a totally different order number and the price of this system was $3600. I wrote to the credit department and told them I had no knowledge of this new machine.
But now... two things really concerned me. The January delivery date was just not tolerable and what was this second machine they tried to bill me for? Was that the first order they were supposed to have torn up? I really don't know.
The next day, I called and talked to sales and I told them I wanted all of the orders canceled the one I did make and the one I didn't make. Sales said they really understood and by the time I would arrive home, I would have confirmation of the two cancellations. Except when I cam home there was no confirmation of the cancellation.
So, Last night I notified them in writing that i wanted but orders canceled and requested confirmations.
It's been twenty-four hours and I've heard nothing from Lenovo....at all. I've also checked the order statuses on the web and they have been untouched.
This really does not feel good. What does feel good is that ordered a large T61p system last night and it will arrive tomorrow. It's new and will cost less the employee purchase price.
What really concerns me is the deliberate non-confirmation of the cancellations. Does Lenovo intend for me to become the adopted Mom of two t61ps? Can I just refuse to sign for them?

You're best bet is to notify your charge card company that any Levono charges are supposed to be canceled, and to deny anything coming from them.
-
Renee I would pay money else where for a better system.

Seems like Lenovo does not want your sales and you do not want there product.

"Renee I would pay money else where for a better system."
I've been in both hardware and software for a really long time.
I'm very sure there isn't a better system. -
That's not a bad idea except I do plan to buy accessories, etc from Lenovo. -
I will take your word for it, you probably have been in the IT field for some time, but there are better systems. Anyway if you want to get that then get it it's your own money. I would not buy from a company that is trying to scam me but that's my own opinion. Anyway go through your credit card company and do not accept any packages through Lenovo till you have things cleared up. -
OKee.
One of the nice things about this whole sage, is that last night I found the identical machine on the net and ordered it last night. It will be here tomorrow. I am learning a couple of lessons from this thread
Right now... I don't want to have several K in my credit card account.
The new machine accomplishes that nicely. But it was also instantly shippable in the configuration I wanted. So I met your requirements, I didn't buy a good machine from a dishonest company. I bought a good machine with the dishonest company out of the loop. That was a really satisfying. -
I would just cancel everything with lenovo dispute the charge if it isn't cleared and order exactly what i want online, but don't order the 9 cell battery, thats the reason for the delay.
-
That's what i did..... and I got the 9-cell battery
