I just received mine - it does NOT come with a stylus.

Also - I like the machine except for the fact that the 8 Cell battery is a beast and makes it look very ugly...such a shame.

Responsiveness of the system improved significantly when I added another gig of ram.

I'm confused. If there's no stylus, and it's only a capacitive touch screen with 2 finger multi touch, and it's not suitable for note taking or graphic design.... why the tablet form factor? Why not just make it an S10-3 with a touch screen?

What is tablet mode good for then if you can't input text or ink existing documents? Seems like a novelty.

Serves the exact purpose the iPad wants to serve and what smartphones already do today. It's just to browse the web with a handheld device that you can hold in a better position than scrunched up on a tiny netbook on your lap.

The benefits of this form factor is that you don't completely give up a keyboard for when you want to be productive and you have a larger screen than a smartphone along with all the programs/ability that a desktop OS brings to you.

I also ordered one of these (from Tiger Direct). I bought it because I think it would be awesome to be able to use your fingers to surf the web, read eBooks, watch movies in tablet form, and/or take notes (if I can get a good stylus that works with the new technology).

I despise hand writing, so not being able to ink isn't a big deal to me. Just being able to browse the web touch screen style and watch movies with it flat on my lap simply sounds awesome to me.

One thing I gotta ask: is it really .8" thick?! When I saw the unboxing video it looked closer to being 1.25-1.5 inches boxy thick. Maybe it just seems thicker or something, but .8 is quite a bit thinner than a Macbook Pro and those are pretty thin as it is.

I got mine yesterday and have been playing with it, a problem that i am having is that the wi-fi does not work in the quick start mode, literally it is disabled and its almost as if i dont have a wireless card...anyone have this problem? i talked to lenovo support and they say its the wireless router that has to be updated, i cant believe that since i can get about 5 networks when in the main O/S and in quickstart, none show up.

Oh and the 8-cell battery is big, but it makes a nice handle.

bayman do you have the broadcom wifi card or the atheroes? I read in another thread that broadcom doesn't have quick start support but atheros does.. mine is atheros and it does work.

If quick start is where the computer boots into a lightweight Linux client, then you might have a problem as, IIRC, Broadcom more often than not doesn't support Linux.

Those of you who have S10-3t's already, keep telling us your experiences.

What I'm wondering though is why the premium versions of the tablet (the model with Win7 Home Premium) is no longer available on the model list at lenovo.com?

I just got mine. When I close it and lay it flat on the table, the "height" is ~1.25 inches.

I have 2 questions for fellow owners:
    1) When it is in tablet mode and I open applications that requires text input (e.g. enter URL to Firefox), I don't see any input panel pop-up. Is Windows 7's tablet input panel not available in the Starter Edition? If that's the case, the tablet mode doesn't do much good for web-surfing. Maybe I just need to enable it somewhere?
    2) I have not tried the Quick Start feature yet, but after it boots into Linux, does it still continue to boot into Windows 7 and eventually replace the Linux environment when Win7 is ready?

    1) No, starter edition does not have any tablet features. One of the main criticisms of the s10-3t. Try googling for 3rd party software to do this, I know the Intel Convertible Classmate comes with 3rd party software in XP home to give it a tablet input panel.

    2) Fairly certain it doesn't do that...not sure how that would ever be accomplished really xD.

I just ordered my S10-3t from TigerDirect to take advantage of the Bing cashback. I'm hoping someone will figure out how to hardwire a bluetooth module to the motherboard rather than having to take up one out of the two available usb ports for a usb dongle.
