So if the T61p's gpu is more powerful then the 8700Gt, and you canget the T7800, on the T61P. Does that mean that the T61p is the best gaming machine in the market right now?

That is what everybody is telling me! THe Quadro FX 570M.
-
HP's 8510w is faster and you don't have to put up with Lenovo's terrible customer service.
It costs less too.
I paid and waited the 5 months for a T61P, only to get the lowest quality machine I've ever seen. Dealing with Lenovo's CS was a horrible experience.
HP on the other hand has been great. The 8510w is high quality and very fast. Price was right too. The communication I've had with HP has been good. -
Can you get the T7800 on the Hp 8510P?
-
The 570M is equivalent to (heck, it's the exact same chip as) an 8600MGT. It benchmarks on par with 8600M GTs equipped with 256MB of DDR3; mind you, for the moment the only other notebook I can think of that fits that description is the ASUS G1S. The 8700M GT is clocked higher than either the 570M or the 8600M GT, and so naturally will outperform them, but you'll have a hard time finding it in a form-factor outside of a 17" notebook on account of heat issues. As far as I'm concerned, the T61p is one of the best choices for a system to play games on at 15.4", but you will most certainly find more powerful machines out there at 17".
-
I agree with you Thrashy. Someone told me that if you find the right drivers for the 570M it will outperform the 8700Gt. This might be true because all the 8700Gt is is an overclocked 8600GT.
-
Well yeah, you could overclock the crap out of it, but honestly the chip is pushing the heat envelope of the system as it is. I'd be wary of trying to run that fast without adequate cooling.
-
Umm no...
The sager with dual 7950GTXs will absolutely demolish any single 8600GT card (which is what the 570m is equivalent to).
Not only is a 7950 more powerful than a 8700GT (which in turn is more powerful than the 8600), there are 2 of them. -
THe Confgs look really good! Who else other then Hp for the HDX offers the T7800? If they had a 17 inch version of the T61P it would be awesome!
-
Adino I only meant for DX10 Cards.
-
I just got my T61p...the graphics card absolutely eats up my friend's 8600m and even some of there 8700m. I will post screenshots of Biosock soon.

I had no respect for Lenovo now I do they have really changed my mind. But why do they have the T7250 2.0Ghz 800MHz 2mbL2 for $490, and then they have the T7300 2.0Ghz 800MHz 4mbL2 for $440. THis just does not make sense!

I am Kinda sick of Clevo stuff. There designs are too bland for my taste except for the last generation Clevo M570 that was a nice design(I like the Faux metal). All i want is a big name company to make a actually gaming machine that has looks to back it up. And I would not pay any money to lenovo the T61p just amazed me I would invest my money else where. If i bought a Clevo I would just buy the D900 series and I really do not think I will need that much power in a Notebook. And yes before I invest a penny to Lenovo I would rather buy the Compad 8510W, and just upgrade the proc, that would be a great investment. -
Ok... then Alienware/XPS stuff for you!
-
Although the t61p is not built for gaming, it is a very capable machine. I've looked at many many manufacturer's trying to find a nice laptop that could handle most games, without breaking bank, that's where the t61p comes in. No other manufacturer offers such a powerful discrete graphics card with a multitude of options, CTO is awesome.
The price is definitely a huge bargain, if you compare it as a gaming laptop to XPS or Alienware's, you pay less for a (at times even better) configuration. Not to mention a 15" makes it more portable, which is a huge plus. -
I just thought about something when business buy this laptop do they reallse it poses a possibility of people just playing games on it. And yes Alienware does fit what I want except I wish the the XPS m1730 was just a M1330 just overgrown. Maybe they could make a 20 inch M1330.
-
I think a business would probably expect their employees to be mature enough to get their work done and not play silly games all day.
-
When a business buys this kind of laptop, they're buying it for people like 3D artists, architects (me!) and engineers who honestly need the graphical horsepower for work. You aren't going to buy a mobile workstation for Jim in middle management, who probably wants the 12.1" thin-and-light status symbol notebook anyways.
-
Of course no buisness buys the wrong laptop for the job. But in most cases they buy the worst thing. I have heard off cases where companies it department takes in computers gives them out with new Os's with no hardware change. Eg. 512Mb ram Xp pro system is upgraded to Vista without ram upgrade.
