    Hello Everyone!

    Amazing forum!

I have had my beloved X61 Tablet stolen. I had upgraded it to 4GB and had a higher capacity battery installed just a few months ago.

I am looking to replace it with another Thinkpad tablet.

We all know Thinkpads are the best , right? :D

I would like to get something slightly or maybe alot better.

What can you kind folks recommend?

I loved the tablet because it was very small and on rare occasion I could write on the screen.

I am not too fixed on the tablet(If you have a non tablet suggestion), but it would be nice.

Also it doesn't have to be the newest model out there I was looking at potentially getting an x201 or x200?

    What can you recommend?

    :)

If you don't want to fork the cash for the X220t, I'd go with X201t as well. These were very reliable machines, many of my friends are enjoying them on a daily basis.

If you don't need all the oompf, you could look at an x200t, they are down to like 400-600 dollars these days.

I thank you all for your kind responses! :)

I have realized that the X201 Tablet is too costly for me right now(but it seems excellent).

I have also decided that I can make due without a tablet. I am actually thinking about the R61 and T61. My X61T with 4gigs of ram used to be more than sufficient for me.

I run mostly word and excel 2010.

    I had Windows 7 ultimate.

What do you guys think of the T61 and R61? Would you recommend another?

Size is no issue for me. :D

    Thank you! :)

If you get anything in the _61_ generation, make sure you avoid the Nvidia chips as they are ticking time bombs.

Also you may want to use one before you buy. T61/R61 are pretty bulky in comparison to your X61.

agreed on this part. i got an r61 w/ nvs quadro 140m back in 2007, and the machine works BEAUTIFULLY, as long as i don't stress the GPU too much. once i do, i will randomly (but not regularly) get BSODs with "memory parity error" as the error message.

thankfully, i'm only using it nowadays to take notes while i'm in class (yay for college) and i have a desktop for more graphics-intense programs.

    Thanks for your responses! :)

I found the X61 tablet to be ...SOLID!

Is the X201 Tablet the same built quality as the X61 Tablet?

Is it as solid a build, as the X61 Tablet?

The X201t is very similar in quality to the X61t, it also has a better screen hinge.

As stated, the x201t IMO has the same build quality as a x61t. Also because the x201t is 16:10, the keyboard is wider so the backspace is a normal size whereas the x61t is 4:3 and the backspace is...small. Also you will have an LED screen vs CCFL.

Thank you very much for the help!

I have definitively decided to get either an X220T or X201T.

I don't really care much for the performance increase in the X220T.

My most important concern is the BUILD quality.

    I have a NEW X201T being sold locally for $1200 .

Is has: 8 gigs ram, 500Gigs hardrive, Core i7 2100 , Ultrabase, and 1 year warranty from Lenovo.

What do you think my guru friends :D ?

Just a side question --Do you have homeowner's or renter's insurance? You might be able to get replacement value of your tablet minus the deductible if you make a claim.
