So, after searching the forum, I still don't know for sure which wireless card is the best. The IBM one, the Intel ABG or the latest ABGN?

a comparison between them would be nice to see.

    thanks

But why do some people keep saying that Atheros based ThinkPad cards are better?

I think people were having problems with the Atheros abgn card. But I have the atheros abg card and it works great. Good range and no connectivity issues whatsoever.

I installed an Atheros 5006EX in place of the 3945, today. The Atheros card seems to be far more sensitive.

I think the Intel ones are supposed to work best with the intel chipsets and cpus, that whole centrino thing, you know?

I've also heard that the atheros are sensitive, but what exactly does that mean? That is a positive thing?

As far as the ABG cards go, the Atheros card is superior to the Intel one. As everybody says, it is more sensitive, and therefore if you are in a place with a weak signal, the Atheros is far more likely to connect to it and even detect it than the Intel 3945, which may not even be able to pick it up at all. however, I have also heard the Atheros also uses slightly more power.

As for the ABGN cards, I do not have any direct experience in this. However, i would assume that the Atheros still is better.

By the way, I hate the Intel PRO/set software.
