This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    Yeah sorry about the edit, I often commit that sin of adding information afterwards to my posts :(

    Bob_McBob, you probably belong to the group who wants a touchpad on the X series? (if I ever buy an X series notebook, I'd like a touchpad too) ... Because you can see a lot of people here on the forums who do not want a touchpad on the X series.

    I have to say making it an optional upgrade is a very clever move from Lenovo, because it pleases both people :D

    You should keep in mind that the review units are pretty loaded, 4GB RAM, 320GB HDD, so on. Also, the retail price is usually much higher than the Lenovo direct price. ;)
    I'd venture to guess that the x201 will probably start at $999 at Lenovo.

    Engadget says "starting prices of $1,199 (X201), $1,599 (X201s), $1,549 (X201t)". IIRC the X201 starting price is about the same as the X200 starting price in 2008.
