Ooh, the price was a little steep. But its a great computer.
-
that's twice my budget, but it's a very nice computer.
-
Thats the cheapest I could get it only went $149.85 over budget I blame the docking station and cable lock.
-
You can ALWAYS find it faster/cheaper/better. The point is, YOU like it, YOU are excited, YOU will enjoy it! Congrats on your first purchase and be happy with your decision!! Most people would not have even solicited input before making a big purchase like that. Kudos to you!!
-
heh I blame the 4 year onsite with protection, the 3 year is a better deal imo...but hey if you accept no compromises only the best will do right
. gratz! hope it gets shipped fast.
-
I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who helped me choose my new laptop.
SoTHANKS

The Fire Snake Notebook Virtuoso
Awesome specs! Wow. Looks like a very powerful machine. What did you do, buy everything Lenovo offered including the kitchen sink? j/k
Just curious, what coupon code did you use?
PS. your quote "Life: no one gets out alive" is something I used to always say, very weird that you say it too. -
I was able to use USXTRIPLESAVINGS which was 10% off and free shipping. I got it from a thread I saw about a week ago here is the link http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=220646.
-
Congrats!!!
Right now is a great time to buy with all the savings.
I got mine last week am very pleased with it. -
Deleted due to numerous pms.
-
I can't wait I don't get my shipping info until tomarrow morning. My dad has an old IBM T41 and I love the keyboard which is part of the reason I bought the Lenovo over the M1530. Although I do wish it had blu-ray but I can just by one when they lower the price. I don't think I'll be able to sleep to night I am so pumped!
-
You need to cancel that order and reorder joe. Buy the cheapest HDD they have.
Don't buy the HDD from Lenovo, go to Newegg and purchase their Hitachi 7k200 200GB for tons less... -
And +1 for Arkit3kt -
Yeah, and the maxed out warranty isn't cheap either.
I bought my stripped down 15.4" t61p for around 900 bucks after tax from lenovo. -
Congrats! Let the production and shipping tracking begin!
-
Shouldn't take you long to get your laptop. Mine shipped in two days, even though the original ETA they told me was like 3 weeks. They just do that to cover their asses in case one of parts ends up being hard to come by. You'll probably have yours in a week or week and a half, depending on your shipping method. Enjoy! You won't be needing an upgrade for a while to say the least.
-
My Mini dock and security cable shipped!

That's a hell of a system, I envy you.
I just today picked-up a R61i (display model no books or battery) for $399 with nowhere near your specs to replace my 3 year old Averatec and I must tell you I love the keyboard and the overall built quality of this thing.
Good luck -
Congratulations! I hope to be joining you in a few weeks when I order my very first laptop. However, don't upgrade to 4GB because you 32-bit system will only read 3GB. Save yourself the extra money, as you already paid an arm and leg for the laptop and warranty.

do you have wireless USB?Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015 -
Did anyone elses Lenovo ship from Honk Kong?

Alright here it is!

Well I'll start at the begining I went to school and all day the only thing that I could think of was my new Lenovo. After what felt like hours I got home and there it was sitting on my counter.
I opened the box and the sexy beast was there.
Here are the accesories and the 6 recovery disks.
First thing I noticed is that this thing was bigger than I expected but oddly lite. And this puppy feels solid as a rock. Then I took it to my table and pluged her in. Very first thing I noticed when I booted it up was nothing, this computer is dead silent even in a quiet room all I hear is a soft purr.
no to get more technical
Screen:
It is beautiful I have the Samsung 15.4" 1680 x 1050. There is absoluly no flex even if I push hard on the back of it. The screen it's self is bright and clear I have no problems even in a bright room. Only problem with it is slight backlight bleeding at the bottom of the screen. I can only see it in a dark room and never notice it when I use the laptop.
Keyboard:
Oh my G-d the keyboard is a work of art. It is by far the best of any notebook I have ever touched. The keys have great resistance the make a nice little click when I push them down and bounce back immediatly after my finger comes off. There is no flex anywhere and it is just a pure joy to type on.
TrackPad/TrackPoint:
I am not immpressed by the trackpad but besides the MBP I don't really like them. However the TrackPoint is awsome not only is it functional it is fun to use. I got three pointers with the laptop but have only used the one that came stock. The left and right click buttons are a little small but they give a nice plunk when pressed. Overall the best pointing system on a laptop.
Build:
As I said before this thing is a tank! I could use it to bash other laptops if I wanted and it would have no effect on this thing. Every part of this laptop feels solid from the screen latch to the palm rest I love it it just feels expensive.I also love the minimal frill of the design no shiny paint no wierd brushed metal finishes just a plain proffesional clean look.
Performance:
When I first booted up it was a bit slow but I was only running with 1GB on RAM. As soon as I upgraded to my 4GB of Crucial everything was zipping along. My Vista Experience Score is 5.1 which I think is pretty good. As soon as I got everything set up I downloaded and ran 3Dmarks my score is 3829 with the stock drivers. With normal use I have no problems nothing hangs even with multipul windows open. It handles games well too I can run BioShock with the setting on high no problem. Like I said earlier this thing is quiet even with the fan on it's not loud at all. Also it runs very cool even when gaming.
Conclusion:
Overall this is one amazing machine! They'll have to pry it from my cooled dead fingers before I give it up. Once I got all my accesories set up speakers, docking station, external hard drive, and mouse I am addicted. I can't keep my hands off it. Ever since I have recived it I haven't touched my desktop. Anyone who is having doubts forget them all just buy it and you will be amazed! -
wow nice review. I'm very happy with my T61p and yet I'm jealous of yours lol. The pic with the wallpaper looks great - that is definitely a fine screen. I think you have even less lightbleed than mine. Mine has some slight bleed on the top while yours is just at the bottom.
And I see what you mean about the plain professional look. I love that look too - all black no nonsense "I mean business" look.
Have you tried the mini dock?
Also have you run any games on it ..just to see if its stable on it?
edit:nm you did run Bioshock. -
Yes I have it in my mini Dock right now. It is really nice very convenient not to have to plug all my cables in after I take my laptop to class.
-
Also I thought they don't ship recovery discs at least not for Vista Home Premium. Maybe they only do it for Ultimate..
-
OP, thanks for the review. The pictures really do look impressive, as does the screen. If you notice any problems, please let us know. If you notice more cool things, please let us know.
The deed is done!
