Hi, I am planning to buy a T530. For the processor. I have three options.

    1. Intel Core i7-3610QM Processor (6M Cache, up to 3.30 GHz)

    2. Intel Core i7-3520M Processor (4M Cache, up to 3.60 GHz)

    3. Intel Core i7-3720QM Processor (6M Cache, up to 3.60 GHz)

I am not sure what the difference between i7-3610QM and i7-3720QM. So I found this link:

Intel i7-3610QM vs Intel i7-3720QM in Processors (CPUs)

But I am unable to understand how the difference FCBGA1224 makes in real life use of a computer. I intend to choose i7-3610QM to save some money. I am a software and website programmer. I dont do games or graphics work.

Can any expert enlighten me on this?

    Thanks!!!

The i7-3520M is a dual-core. Nothing wrong with it, but if you orient toward dual-core, the i5-3320M can perform almost as well for less money.

The i7-3610QM and i7-3720QM are both quad-core. The key difference between them is that the latter supports VT-d (Intel Virtualization Technology for Directed I/O), as does the i5-3320M, whereas the former does not.

Check this comparison table by Intel.

So, if you are a software developer and Virtualization is relevant to your projects, you should go with the i7-3720QM.

Another question you should ask yourself is whether you do need NVIDIA discrete graphics. If you "don't do games or graphics work", perhaps the i7-3520M, or even the i5-3320M, with HD 4000 integrated graphics can be more cost-effective (and tends to run cooler and quieter).
