I've been browsing around this forum for quite a bit now, and I've seen countless posts and threads about the issues for the screens on the T61/T61p's.

Now, I ordered a T61p (4/17... still not shipped yet, ESD of 5/20, wtf?).. and I'm getting kinda worried about the screen.

My question is: How wide-spread is this problem? I see a lot of posts of people with the problem, but if you think about it, that may not say much if people there are a lot of people without any problems that just aren't saying anything. If you don't have the problem, there's nothing to complain about, right?

So, anyone here have a T61p that they ordered and received with no screen issues?

And on a side note, what's up with the absurd shipping time? This is what I ordered: http://ricapar.net/u/thinkpad.JPG

    Thanks

Shipping estimates are always overly generous, otherwise there would be even more complaints when deadlines are missed.

At first I found my T61p screen pretty dim, but I've gotten used to it and don't even notice it anymore.

I have 2 t61's in the last month; both LG and I think they are fine. I'm pretty picky about screens and although the viewing angles could be better, you can position yourself dead on in the best spot and have good viewability up/down and side to side. My only other complaint would be the colors are somewhat muted compared to my desktop. I have not tried to do any photoshop color correction yet but I lean towards maybe using an external monitor for that.

I am using the 1680x1050 resolution screens; one with the 140 the other with the nvidia 570 both running vista just fine.

    Alright, good to hear.

I'm actually really glad to also say that my T61p just shipped yesterday! Already got the tracking information and everything.

Not 100% sure, but according to the information on UPS's site for the chosen shipping method, it should arrive to me this Friday!

    *happy*

Whohoo! Got my T61p in the other day, already wiped Vista, got XP and Linux running.

Screen's resolution is amazing, though the only thing that gets me is the brightness.. It could definitely be brighter. Whites seem washed out too..

The < $500 Dell Vostro I have here is brighter than this (although the resolution doesn't match the T61p's).

I guess it's something that can be dealt with.
