The new Access Connections 5.61 offers P2P technology?

Would someone tell me if the P2P functionality that appeared in the new version of Access Connections can be used with other non-Lenovo laptops?

Is it something like the good old-fashion "self-WiFi-hotspoting-on-a-stick" thing:

    netsh wlan set hostednetwork ssid=test1234 key=test1234 keyUsage=temporary mode=allow
    netsh wlan start hostednetwork

Or is the functionality just a plain ad-hoc connection or is it something completely different?

I'll assume this refers to the "My Wi-Fi" technology that Intel offers. This has been available in the full Intel drivers (not the one on Lenovo's site) for quite some time. It allows the Intel 5100/5300 (and presumably 6200/6300) to serve as a simultaneous wireless client on one network and access point for other computers. It seems it was finally brought into access connections.

It does not seem to be the same as Intel's My WiFi. I could never get the feature working anyway but the commands I posted are pretty much the same as Intel's My WiFI but does not take 20MB :). Other than this, AFAIK the virtualization technology in win 7 works great with other wifi cards too as long as they have the new style driver, it is not a feature unique to Intel.

I can't seem to get it to work with my XP equipped older HP.

I suppose it is possible that both puters need Access Connections 5.61 or higher installed and my HP XP doesn't.

That would be interesting since I would love to get an IPAD wifi rather than an IPAD 3G in order to never deal with AT&T.
