If one configure a T61p or T61 they are almost the same except the the gpu and LCD display setting. Now both have the 4 in one card reader. Plus they both have these:
42X1455 SBB GEO LBL US,WLAN,BLT,UWB
42V8600 SBB UWB ANTENNA
I guess they both will have the UWB. Maybe since Lenovo updated the T61 15.4', the build quality will be the same as the T61p.
-
Sucks for all of those boys who ordered the T61 without UWB.
-
-
UWB refers to what?
-
-
I really think UWB will take off. The idea of hooking up your devices such as an external hard drive without having to plug it in is a great idea. Not to mention input devices, I want to pull my wireless mouse out of my bag and not have to plug a little USB transmitter into the side of my laptop. I know you can do this with bluetooth already but bluetooth is unreliable. However, I am scared that UWB is going to be a whole new playground for hackers. 30 meters is a long way for UWB to work. I'm just scared that there is going to be a hacker in starbucks looking at all the data on my portable hard drive from accross the room. They are definitley going to have to implement some kind of security for UWB in the near future.

-
Do only 15.4" come with the UWB?
-
It appears that way, I just created a quote for a 14 inch model and I don't see UWB in here at all.

they are all the same but the Graphic card !!! Hoping they will use a better graphic card on the T61 series
-
-
Actually, you can have NVIDIA Quadro FX 570M on T61 14.1" regular screen model.
-
UWB is wireless USB x at least a factor of 10 of USB 2.0
It's gonna make for some great UWB wireless hard drive backups, no?
As for the difference, of course the only difference is the GPU and the screen.
Any laptop can get a core 2 duo 2.4ghz. only the BEST thinkpad will get the awesome gpu.
that's why people were waiting for t61p. cuz they wanted the best. -
Thanks -
-
Yeah the build was different even a week ago. I have order quotes from a week ago with different specs.
-
I'm close to purchasing a 14.1" T61 because they just dropped $100 off the price, but I'm interested in a better graphics option. -
AFAIK, only the 15.4" T61p has the nVidia Quadro NVS 570M. Plus it has a 1900x1200 resolution screen!
1900x1200 is kind of small for me even on a 24" LCD monitor.
It seems that the highest discrete graphics option on the regular T61 is the Quadro NVS 140M atm. -
agreed with the post above me... if there is option for the 570m on the t61, i would dump my t61p order in a heartbeat and save at least a couple hundo dollars by ordering the t61
The new T61p and T61 specs seem to be the same
