Anyone know what's been up with the Lenovo outlet lately? Earlier this weekend, you couldn't place any orders online or over the phone. The site would always give invalid product code errors, and the sales techs were locked out of the system.
Now I've been watching systems vanish from the Outlet for a couple days now, and I checked today, and the price on everything is $459?!
What's up Lenovo?!

I think somebody is on something because the outlet looks fine to me.
-
No the OP is right. After I saw his post I logged on (about 2 hours ago) and I saw at least 5 T410 models going for under $450...all of which had Core i processors, most of which with 7200 rpm drives and 4 gb of RAM. Of course, just my luck, as I was taking my time and trying to decide which one to get they were all bought out from under me
Oh well, maybe next time.
-
I just went crazy on there, and bought a total of 4 laptops... with that said, three of them gave me some serious trouble.
1. Scratch and Dent SL410 model, the unit was USED, and it was nasty inside, dirt and grime, and very scratched up, they let me return that with a full refund.
2. Reburb T410s w/ touchscreen, this one had a bad thinkvantage light and keyboard, my brother loved the laptop so he sent it to the depot and got it repaired (great service btw) this laptop was cheaper than #3 and it had a better processor too... go figure
3. Reburb T410s w/o touchscreen, this had a dead pixel, trouble with the fingerprint reader, and a defective fingerprint reader. I have an RMA on this, but sent it to the depot first to see if they can repair it and make it right.
I love buying refurbs from some companies but Lenovo has really been hit or miss, 1 laptop was perfect (I am assuming since we bought that for someone and we havent heard anything from them yet.)
All the thinkpads we have bought brand new have had no problems. -
I bought an x61 Refurb, it's great, no problems and I'm still using it today.
-
Can you upgrade warranty on outlet machines?
-
Did anyone actually buy something for $459, though? I saw that earlier today as well, so I took a look at three different $459 X201's. By the time the page for each was opened, they had reverted to their previous ~$720 pricing. Not out of stock, but the same laptop with a different price.
My guess is that it was a temporary glitch and they fixed it.
I've been checking the outlet very often lately, and they have all kinds of weird stuff going on. Site errors, all stock disappears occasionally, etc. -
-
There is a probably a renegade staff that decided it should be an early boxing day sale.
P.S. There is probably a computer glitch somewhere, it does occur from times to times. -
-
You can extend it, but it must be an out of warranty extension. They're more expensive. It's like $170 for one year, whereas a notebook that's still under warranty can get a two year extension for $120.

-
just notice some NEW T410 inside $500 but time I put them in cart gone.... It might be technical issues or they get sold out...hehehe better luck next time (site using magento software pretty error prone & right now it is down)

Finally took this opportunity to get a 9-cell battery for my T60. Old one is sitting at like 50% of original capacity.
-
I scored a monster.

I think you will have the option to purchase up to 2 year onsite for a higher price. Of course, you will still have the option to purchase one year onsite, depot and 2year depot as well. I don't know if the prices are always quoted the same, but I know those are the options.
-
That is incorrect. All outlet machines come with a one year depot warranty. This precludes getting on-site, accidental and IWS. It is not upgradeable via normal means. You can purchase an out of warranty extension, but it's more expensive. I don't know if you must wait until the outlet warranty runs out. You'd have to ask Lenovo on that one.
-
~$200 for another year and ~$320 for 2 years for cheapest warranty.

After 7 trusty years with my ThinkPad T41, and many months of researching a new laptop, I have finally pulled the trigger on a ThinkPad T410s from the Outlet
It was a little more than what I wanted to spend, but it seemed like a good value (compared to SPP prices and eBay):
ThinkPad T410s (New condition)
Intel® Core™ i5-560M (2.66GHz base; 3.20GHz Max Turbo, 3MB Cache)
Windows 7 Professional 64
4GB (2 X 2GB) PC3-8500 DDR3 1067MHz
128GB SATA 1.8" Solid State Drive
14.1” WXGA+ (1440 X 900) W/ Camera
NVIDIA® Quadro® NVS 3100M
Intel® Centrino Advanced-N 6300
Bluetooth
Fingerprint Reader
Price was $1,133. Thoughts on these specs? -
I don't know whether its a good deal or not, but I like the specs.
-
-
so $700 to $750 for pc & add SSD comes to $1000. but you have to shop well to save $100 - $150... -

Why do I always miss the good deals? I've been searching for an ultraportable ThinkPad...man life is so unfair..
-
but point is yesterday T500 or T410 was inside $500 with good config and I click on the item & next moment available = 0. After few minutes site went offline (magneto software used for outlet)
so not sure someone got it or not unless we have confirm post but person who got it may not come here -
You can get them for $200 every once in a while. Last time I checked (2 months ago or so) there was a deal for Intel X25, then on Christmas there were other deals, then on Black Friday even more etc. In fact G.Skill 128GB SSD (Sandforce 1200) was at something like $180 at some point.
-
120gb 2nd gen intel x25 was on sale for 177 with rebate on the day they release the 510 series.
-
I watch the lenovo outlet a lot and have never seen a laptop with SSD go under 600 on there especially the t410s. You probably saw a t410 and without SSD for that price.
-
I just ordered a refurbed T410 for $460 (with tax and shipping) with core i5 560, 500 gb 7200 rpm hard drive and 4gb of ram...I bought it so quick I didn't get to copy all of the specs and my confirmation e-mail didn't list the specs but I'm happy
-
there was an X201 going for 800 including a 128gb SSD 3 days ago
-
Did you get it?
-
-
Yes, it was a refurb....I've only ordered one refurb from the outlet site (X61) but never had a problem with it and I'm still using it. Hopefully no dead pixels, I can deal with just about anything other than that.
-
(my friend is visiting the US so I got it shipped to him) -
I wanna get my hands on one of them dual screen W701ds. Come on outlet..
-
so it means i cant travel with it. -
Can't imagine carrying it around as it will never leave my house.
Hopefully it shows up on the outlet tomorrow. Otherwise, I'm gonna have to pull the trigger on one of those expensive pre-configured models. -
whats wrong with your M6500? its a good balance of size and weight IMO, the only thing is the power adaptor is the size of a freaking netbook!!!

The outlet is going crazy!
