:) Looks like a major improvement in build & ship times is taking place. I ordered a high end T61p late on December 7 2007 and shipment from Hong Kong occured on December 11 2007.

The Lenovo.com site had the first indicator of a shipment & new invoice on 12 Dec but no tracking info. Going to the Ibm.com site, they had still showed the PC was scheduled for shipment but actually had the UPS tracking info shown below:

    Status: In Transit
    Shipped To: SARATOGA, CA, US
    Shipped/Billed On: 12/11/2007
    Service: EXPRESS

My Lenovo specs included the DVD with R/W capablity:

So, it looks like a dramatic improvement in shipping/build times. This is especially true since it is occuring during the Xmas rush. Also, I see a direct shipment from HK to the USA West Coast overnight.

Nice to hear the T61 camp is getting their orders in a timely manner. x61 camp still taking at least a week.

Yes, the delivery now is too fast!

My original plan was to receive the PC after Xmas and after my wife had gotten her nice present I had ready to put under the Xmas tree.

Then, she would not have minded if I show up in January with a new laptop.

Now, I have to put together a new plan.

Ahhh the difficulties that Lenovo causes with its quick shipment times.

Congrats! How did you manage to get a spec'd out T61p for such a low price? Would be interested to know.

    sunchaser,

I used the December double % discount/e-coupon. 25% Lenovo discount plus another DEC 13.3% e-coupon.

Hard for me to turn down.....which I didn't.

I thought it was time for me to upgrade from Puppylinux and 166Mhz up to XP and 2.6Ghz. LOL!

Not sure if the double discount is still in process. The 25% is still there....go to Lenovo.com to see if the 13.3% is still there.

    Good luck.

Gratz on your purchase and shipment! That's a great price for those specs.

Now is a good time to pray and offer burnt offerings to the GodOfNoDeadPixels :D.

Are dead pixels really that common? Of the 3 LCD screen's I have purchased for desktops I have yet to receive one, on the laptop as well I have never received one. I read on the forums that this is a normal occurrence, just some input would be good.

And *knocks on wood* to when I receive my x61 lol.

This is probably a selection effect. No one is going to come to gripe/post specifically about having no dead pixels. Only those with complaints are going to say anything.

How do you check your order status through ibm's site?

do a google for "ibm order status". once you get the order status page, plug in your lenovo customer code and your lenovo order number. refer to:

    https://www.ibm.com/account/orderstatus/myorders/login?cc=us

ibm will then show your order status and show lenovo as the order source but will also then show a place to click on "tracking status" even though your overall order status stil shows "scheduled to ship":

Status as of 0:21 AM UTC 12/13/2007
    Order number:
    (Lenovo)
    Customer ref /
    PO #: MASTERCARD
    Order date: 12/07/2007
    Ship to country:

    Status Qty Item
    Scheduled to ship 1 SYS.6459CT
    CONFIGURED SYSTEM
    View details

    Qty Status [?] Date Tracking
    1 Scheduled to ship 01/09/2008
    Track shipment

This last item "track shipment" will then take you to ups and the tracking status.

Lenovo has 2-3 antenna options for the antenna that is placed in between the plastic top and magnesium roll bar. The wlan antenna is the most common for the non enterprise home user. I think the one your refer to is if you had a WWAN express card antenna....but just guessing.

Maybe post your options and we can compare.

    Mike,

Yes, that's interesting that the IBM configuration info is more comprehensive than the Lenovo config info.

My IBM config says the same thing:

42V8601 1 SBB NO UWB ANTENNA
    42V8605 1 SBB NO INT.WWAN ANTENNA
    15.4"R
    42V8607 1 SBB INT.WLAN ANTENNA
    15.4"

All is good, though. These are the 3 options in the T61p. Internal Wlan antenna is the standard wireless antenna. UWB actually stands for ultra wideband antenna....and not sure to which option this antenna applies. There is a whole other T61p system called the mobile broadband that would use these options. I think the PC is hardwired internally with the Verizon or other choices that use the UWB antenna.

    Not to worry.

    Wow!

I see from my UPS tracking info that my new T61p is about 7 miles away at 5:30am so a delivery today is in the cards.

Lenovo gave me a gratis EXPRESS deliver with two days between their China shipment and my on the door step California delivery time.

I am turning into a Lenovo supporter!
