The two TB3 ports are dead on my P53. Can it be fixed by users?

Is this fixable by users? I checked the hardware maintenance manual and was not able to find how to fix it.

If this is not serviceable by users themselves, which store do you recommend for the fix (if I don't send it back to Lenovo)? Microcenter? Or else? I bought it 2 years ago, and the warranty already expired.

Update: Turned out that only the middle TB3 port in the back is dead.

Hardware Maintenance Manual p.96: System board. That's the easy part.

Motherboard replacement is not exactly impossible to do but after it is done you would need a special software to add laptop's type and serial numbers into the bios. Without that software like Lenovo Update won't work since it doesn't know what computer model it is.

Hard part is getting that software.

My X1 Tablet Gen3 motherboard was replaced on-site last June, victim of the TB3 firmware bug.
They replaced it with a dud, and this coming week the onsite subcontractor is coming to fit another, same guy, 3rd time.
We get on pretty well, I have decades in the biz so they let me go inside without voiding my warranty, so when he's done changing mine out I'll see if he feels like leaving me whatever software tool he'll use to match the mainboard in.
Sadly, he doesn't have "Dev" BIOS files at all for my needs :vbfrown:, but if there's something he uses for the purpose above I'll grab it. Assume that would be welcome here @KLF or would I be in hot water?? Maaan this is turning out to be a busy first day on NBR forums :D
    Keep you posted :)

@KLF sorry I'm quite new on the forum, can't see any kind of DM, but the service guy came by today and swapped out my mainboard... I have a fresh up-to-date ISO of a USB key that might be of interest here or elsewhere.. All it cost me was a couple of hours of chat, a gram of quality paste and a USB-C to USB-A adaptor hehe
Don't wanna get myself or anyone else in trouble by posting stuff out, lmk what's appropriate ;)

@L0wpull I would be very interested in this ISO. DM stands for direct message, i.e. when you click on user's nickname and press Start a Conversation. You probably won't be able to use DMs right away, there was some limit like at least 10 posts or something like that, before you can DM somebody.
