I got my z61t a couple of days ago, and I'm really impressed (for the most part) by it. The size is great; it's compact and light. I got just the 4cell battery. I'm glad I went with the wxga+ screen; it's very nice. Far better then I was expecting. (Note: I'm coming from an R51 were the colors appear washed out.) The z61t's screen is bright and crisp. The text IS small and doesn't always fit with my laid back surfing habits...I'll see how I adjust.

However, not all is great. The keyboard seems a step down from my R51. This is my third thinkpad, and I've noticed a decline in the keyboard quality each time. It's still a nice keyboard, but... I can't gauge the battery life yet, since I'm doing a lot of setup, but right now it's about 1.5 hours.

Also, I can't get over at how much junk was installed on it. It had ~85 processes running an it when I got it. Google picasa? It may be a nice app, but if I wanted it I could easily download it myself.

Anyways, thumbs up on the z61t.

I had two 512MB sticks listed on my invoice though I had ordered only one, and as I had originally thought, only received one 512MB stick (Which I promptly replaced with two 1GB sticks).

I don't have the energy to reinstall the os, so I just disabled many of the processes. I'm going to uninstall Symantec Antivirus tonight, so I may be forced to reinstall the os, since Symantec installs %$#% all over the place.

Just got mine an hr ago, pretty awesome so far. I too have uninstalled symatnic and disabled a lot of processes. Can anyone tell me how I can install the thinkvantage programs on a new clean install of winxp. I thought it would come with a thinkvantage cd but it didnt. And I cant find it on their website.

is there a particular reason why you would do a clean install of windows xp and install the programs again instead of using ThinkVantage R&R and just choose which programs you want?

I don't have a windows xp pro cd so I dont think I will be able to do that.

I didn't know R&R was so smart. Any options to not install Symantec?
