There is no such thing as "theft warranty" when it comes to ThinkPads.

An enabled Computrace is as good as it gets in that respect.

Who would steal a dull-looking-ThinkPad with all the shiny Macs surrounding it anyway?

Yeah. jook33, you may want to get square trade. or some people can add it onto their homeowner's/renter's policy.

I told her the same thing haha, but she wants it, i mean anything can happen in detroit, i've seen a man get shot in the head over a cigarette, I'll see what insurance policy her mom has and try that out.

Well, should adding that T430 to the homeowners insurance fail, you can always get her a T23 for $25...:D

Avoid adding it to a home insurance policy because filing a claim would raise up the cost of your premium. It is rarely worth it. If anything, just password protect the bios, the harddrive, and the user account. It would make it impossible to use.

How is that going to help? They wouldn't find out that their "new" laptop is a paperweight until well after they've stolen it. You think they're going to bring it back when they realize they can't use it?

Filing a claim on your homeowner's / renter's insurance doesn't necessarily raise your premium either.
