Did some searching on here. Can't seem to really find anything definitive and looking for help.
Computer is for my aunt. She uses it mostly for working/typing, powerpoint, word, etc. She will also likely every now and then use it to watch movies or connect to her TV to watch movies/videos. Portability is nice, but she plans to use it at home most of the time, and if unplugging it, will likely go to the living room and sit on the couch and use it kinda thing.
Very little with photos or video editing.
Bottom line is the AMD chips are $100 less starting than the Intel chips. Do I suggest to her the AMD or get the Intel? Or maybe more specifically, AMD Phenom II X3 Triple-Core P840 vs the Intel Core i3-370M? My understanding is that the i5 is definitely superior to the Phenom II, but what about the i3 vs the Phenom II? Now we're talking very similar pricing i3 and Phenom II... Or if I go AMD, is Phenom II worth the $65 over the Turion II P540?
And one point of confusion: When building a system, it shows "no camera" or "low light sensitive 2.0mp camera" as options. I thought the Edge 14" came standard with a camera, and you can upgrade to the sensitive camera? Or is the only way to get a camera in the laptop with the low light 2.0mp one?
It also appears that the website says you can get integrated or discrete graphics, yet I don't see any option to choose. They all look like integrated?

Performance wise either is probably overkill. Historically, the issue with AMD is they run hotter and offer less battery life. It doesn't seem the battery life is an issue, but the heat could be. Laptops that run hotter can be noisier because the fan has to run often to keep the machine cool. It's sort of a liveability issue. Is it worth the extra cash to get the Intel? Kind of hard for me say for you.

My experience is not very good with AMD processors in portable systems, but bery good in stationary PCs. I would buy Intel until AMD's next round of CPUs (or APUs, as they call them) are released, that are much more power efficient and has an integrated GPU. Should be here early next year.
EDIT: The upcoming AMD processors may only be for ultra low power systems, and hence not too powerful. -
Appreciate it. We'll see what she says.
