I am extremely depressed when I look at these pictures.... Believe it or not, but that T61 on the right in the picture of the guy who has 5 of them is my T61's cousin. I am very much missing him as he has been on a long vacation..

wonder what would they do to make it "endure proton beams"

I don't see any Lenovo Thinkpad...
-
If you watch the show Storm Chasers on Discovery you'll also notice that this season they're using ThinkPads. Lenovo gave them something like 70 ThinkPads and vehicle mounts to use in the show. Obviously that's a bit of a paid placement, but Lenovo knows that geeks notice what equipment is being used in extreme environments and it adds a cool factor.

Do they use any Lenovo era Thinkpads on the ISS or NASA space missions or are they all IBM made?
-
Hmmm, the article says they are getting new Thinkpads for upcoming/future missions. I wonder what they will order ? X301? W500?
Should be interesting to find out, that's for sure.
Yes, and all the photos I've seen of Thinkpads in space are of the older IBM generations (T30, T43, etc.). -
Great now I want a thinkpad even more...
