    ThinkPad Advanced Dock Question

    Hi guys,

    I am debating between the ThinkPad Advanced and Advanced Mini Dock question.

    One part of the Advanced Dock really intrigues me.

    It says: One full-height and half-length or low profile PCI Express Card*

    Does this mean I can buy the Intel X3100 and then buy any graphics card I want for when my computer is at home and it will replace the X3100?

    This seems really great, because I have a cooler running laptop when I am out and a powerhouse when I am home.

    Can someone verify how this works and if this is true?

    I was wondering if the T60 advanced mini docks work with the T61.

    Your assumption is true to a point. You can put a video card in the advanced dock, but since it only accommodates half length cards that will limit the possibilities. I also remember hearing that there is a power limitation with the advanced dock again limiting your options for video cards.

    Newskin: The advanced dock has not changed. It is the same for the t60 and the t61.

    I am new to this forum. I received my Advanced Dock today. My T61 will arrive tomorrow. The Advanced Dock had no real text instructions .. just those "universal" pictures. Is there anywhere I can get actual instructions as to what the key, button #1 and button #2 actually do. Also, the proper sequence for using the key and these buttons. I guess that if I knew what the buttons did, I could figure out the sequence part. (And I thought medical school was difficult!)
