The T61 doesn't have a DVI-D output. If you buy the "ThinkPad Advanced Mini Dock with US/Canada/LA Line Cord" it has a DVI-D output. Will the DVI-D output work? Or does it only work if the laptop has DVI-D outputs in the first place?

it'll work
i'd get one, but they're not cheap -
DVI are too large to fit inside most notebooks.

you can buy the dock for around $100 on ebay plus shipping, and then buy cheap good quality dvi cables on monoprice.com.

i have one advanced mini dock, and it is working flawlessly with my Z61m and Dell 2407wfp. The presentation director from lenovo is easy to use, whenever my thinkpad docked it will change the output res to 1920x1200.

I didn't find any information that there will be a new docking solution for T61. So I assume my new T61 will work on it too.

Does anyone out there have first hand experience with the T60/61 and this docking station that has hooked up a monitor to the DVI-D output on the docking station. I just want to know for sure that it works on a laptop that is not already equipped with DVI-D output. It could be a dealbreaker if it doesn't work.
Thanks! -
Reviving this old thread -- I am curious about your experiences with this. I am particularly interested in having the DVI and serial port output that this unit provides (and more USB ports can never hurt) for my T61.
Re the DVI signal that is produced, is it any different in quality that a regular DVI output would generate?
I am seriously considering having my T61 replace my Dell tower as my permanent computing platform.
Thanks.

ps: do these ever go on sale as the laptops seem to regularly do? -
