Do I need to take out my CDROM drive to use this in my T61? How does this work?

Yes, you need to take out your CD-ROM drive & insert the battery into that slot to use it.

Very, you just flick a locking switch and pull a tab and the CD drive simply slides out. Very, very easy. Detailed instructions can be found in the manual.

Probably give you an extra 45 minutes running time (average) - some have reported up to 1hr extra (probably running at very low power requirement - low screen brightness, throttle the CPU, reduce other memory usage, etc).
When this battery resides in the machine, the system uses this battery as the primary power source until it is depleted, whereby the system then reverts to the main battery. -
I believe that the ultrabay battery paired with current operating systems has no system in place to prevent the battery from discharging all the way to 0%.
I think if you discharge a li-ion/polymer battery to 0% you significantly reduce its overall lifespan. I think most people who use this battery keep their eye on the battery gauge to prevent this. -

I get about 2 hours on my 4 cell with nvida. Ultrabay add about 1.25 hours. Interesting to note though, I aslo have a 7 cell and it seems to gets about 3.5 hours, 15 minutes more than the 4 cell and 3 cell combined.
