today a "ThinkPad Device Experience" driver became available on the Lenovo site - it is a 73MB file - I have heard that it somehow enhances Windows 7; I yet do not know how. After I installed it on my Windows 7 system, I haven't noticed any new software, and still don't now what it does. I assume it does do something? Behind the scenes? Does it overtly or covertly enhance Windows 7? Or is it just a sort of certification? or something else?![]()

Hi,
it is all in the download's description at http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-74803 :
"This package installs the full version of ThinkPad Device Experience on systems that run on Windows 7 (32-bit) and (64-bit ) operating system.
[...]
This package installs the following software.
* Device Experience
* Lenovo ThinkVantage Tools"
Greetz!

That download description does not help a lot - it doesn't really explain what Device Experience is?

and what is that experience?
-
bloatware xD

I am usually very wary with unknown 73Mb packages

It's nothing but a shell GUI sort of the same as the Tool(fool)box. BTW it isnt anything to get excited about. Not like a Penthouse Pet waiting in your bed for you if you want to compare the thrill of downloading and installing it.
