How is Linux on the new ThinkPads?
Interface?
Built in applications?
For gaming?
For watching movies?
Browser?
Could you post some screen shots?

Google it. You will find so much more info out there.

I read online that the newest Linux operating system on the ThinkPads is supposed to work very well. Stable and application/hardware freindly like Windows.

Many people in the scientific, academic, and IT space buy Thinkpads just to run Linux on it. But sadly Lenovo won't put the latest Penryn CPUs on its Linux Thinkpads. So for those who want a T61 with T8300 and a webcam still have to buy a Thinkpad with Vista. What a waste of that extra $50 on crappy vista.

To answer some of your questions:
- The interface is very good and customizable.
- Every one knows that the included built-in applications like OpenOffice, Gimp, Firefox, Evolution etc. are first rate.
- Gaming is not up to par with Windows but with Wine there is some hope.
- DVD playback can be problematic and I found the playback not to be the same quality as in Windows(you will have to use Win codecs).
- Firefox is my browser of choice in both Ubuntu or Windows. -

Running Ubuntu Gutsy for about 5 months now. No issues. I use VLC for video playback. I watch DVD's, DivX movies and HD podcasts on my Samsung 32'' LCD TV using the external monitor port, works fantastic (the hardest part was figuring out that you have to log out, hook up the cable, and log back in to get the second screen to come on. It takes about 20 seconds.)
