Hi. I'm a college student from Argentina and I'll buy my first notebook. I'll use it basically for MS Office, internet, DVDs, MP3. Here in my country Lenovo/IBM sells this notebook only for students with 20% OFF. What do you think about this laptop? I want a laptop to use for the next 3-4 years. :budget: Thanks!

It's not bad, but probably would be a bit out dated by a year or so. How much are you getting it? Sometimes it may not be the best price even with a 20% discount.

If you want to carry it around, take it to class etc. the R series is probably a bit heavy, I have an older T series and it does the trick just fine (T41p). Most of the people I know who have larger notebooks go green with envy when they realize mine is more powerful, more reliable, and above all a lot lighter then theirs.

Spend the extra money and buy a T43P. With fingerprint recognition, you have the extra security you need when people steal your laptop. It's light weight and will easily fit into your backpack.
