I was just wondering if the LCD on the 15.4" R61 thinkpad is still pretty sturdy even though it doesnt have the LCD role cage built into it. I was going to get the 14.1 inch version of the R61 but I thought the S-Video out on the 15.4" version would be really valuable and I thought that I could just be extra careful with it. I am just wondering if anyone has this model without the LCD role cage if it really makes a big difference in the structure of the entire laptop. I wish that they could have just put an S-Video out onto the 14.1" version of this laptop I know I could have gotten an adapter for the VGA output but I thought that a built in S-Video would be easier. I still haven't received my laptop yet so im not sure how good its going to be but.

I just thought that I would see if anyone has any opinions on how much the LCD role cage really adds to the structure of the laptop?

I am not sure but these new line of thinkpads are the first to offer this LCD role cage right?
If it is all of the past models have been just as durable even without this new role cage in the LCD.

    hello buddy
    i have a 8932a19 thinkpad R61
i am happy with the laptop but
also unhappy at the same time

with the 15.4" lcd with out the roll cage
sure does feel good even with out the roll cage
but obviously it's better with the roll cage

i just found on mine that the
left hand side panel is slightly lifting
but the right is still intact. So that's my answer
    pretty not so good
i'm so over worrying about it falling apart i'm just using it now
i have written on another forum that the build is
alot worse than they used to be, and also the
quality control is un regular because my friend got one
the same day and it's much better than mine. It's probably
lenovo thats ruined some of the build and it is the new R series
which is the cheaper more affordable version.

but the conclusion is that its still a good build laptop, i think the lenovo R61 is better than the HP Dv series both 15 and 14", acer, LG, and some other brands

i would suggest a 14" dell, and Asus, and i don't have much to say about other brands because they are un affordable, o yeah toshiba is also good but i don't like the design of them atm but they are still good

    Good luk
