Hey all, I am looking to replace my WXGA screen on my 14.1" R61 with a WXGA+ screen. I was lurking the forums and came across this thread:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/lenovo-ibm/463906-upgrade-t61-screen-wxga.html

I was wondering if anyone knew if the same could be done for the 14.1" R61 that was done with the T61.

I currently have the WXGA screen (1280x800) with webcam and I was wondering if anyone knew if it was possible to purchase a WXGA+ screen and be able to replace the screen without problems. The main problem I foresee is with the webcam.

    Thoughts?

the R61 14.1 inch widescreen top case uses the same components as the T61 14.1 inch, so theoretically it is possible (However, Lenovo never offered the WXGA+ option on the R61 14.1 inch).

WXGA+ was offered CTO and top-seller on the R61.

the problem was when i looked for replacement screens for my model number (7742-cto), i couldn't find any exact replacement screens.

I would buy a genuine Lenovo part and not a compatible screen. Here's the part numbers:

    220nit, LG-Philips 42T0406
    200nit, LG-Philips 42T0427
    200nit, Samsung 13N7108
    200nit, Samsung 42T0412
    200nit, Samsung 42T0453

Hit the training and support site. There's a link in the sticky. It shows how to do it.

i would go with the LG-Phillips screen if you are really serious about the upgrade.

i looked into the lenovo genuine screens, and the prices are roughly double the ones found on other websites. is there that much of a difference in the quality, or is it mainly for the assurance that the screen replacement will fit?

would you happen to know the differences between the lg-phillips screen and the samsung?
