Got myself an s30 and everything works fine except for the battery(dead).
Any idea where I can get a replacement battery (used or repacked)?

and does anybody here still has XP drivers for this unit?

I checked lenovo site and it only shows some generic drivers ans apps. The drive matrix does not help either since it is not on the list.

the driver matrix can be found here: http://www-06.ibm.com/jp/domino04/pc/support/Sylphd03.nsf/jtechinfo/SYJ0-00AAD09

batteries for the s30 (yes, the 's' is supposed to be lowercase :p) have been out of production for ages.   i bought a standard battery from IBM around 2005 only to discover that sitting around in a warehouse for four years killed it.

they were in stock here in the US back in 2005.   here's a blast from the past: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=8648&view=next

you might find one on ebay (or yahoo auctions japan) from third-party manufacturers.   short of this or rebuilding the one you have, your options on this system are very limited.

i sold my s30 due to the lack of available parts.   it was a 2639-BB1 with US english keyboard made for IBM US and arguably the most rare s30 model ever produced.   only around 50 were made iirc.

enjoy your s30.   it's a great little system and an exemplification of IBM's more daring design history.

Thanks erik, need a translator though :) google to the rescue.

I stand corrected  . This machine is rare indeed and the batteries. I am using the English/Japanese keyboard. Checked the auctions and looks like I will have it connected to a UPS for the meantime.
Yes, I will be enjoying this one, same as my x301.

Update: Got a 9 cell battery from Ebay :)

my current test shows that it can last ~6 hours, but it is really heavy (heavier than my X301).
