I just got this ThinkPad SL400 2743PBC. I'm doing Windows XP clean install. As far as driver setup is concerned, my goal is to install minimum required drivers and leave those utilities that come with drivers and third-party tools on demand. With this goal in my mind, I followed the Arki's ThinkPad Superguide diligently and installed every driver except driver for integrated webcam. After series of reboots, however I've still got the followings with question marks under Other devices.

    Under Other devices:
Question mark 1: Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus

While installing "Display (NVIDIA GeForce G 105M) driver and Audio driver (NVIDIA HDMI Audio)", I remember I unchecked NVIDIA HDMI Audio as I thought that might be just some extra, for audio I needed to install real audio driver. So I just installed the nVidia display driver. Is that why I'm seeing Question mark 1 right now?
Or is Question mark 1 related to "Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) High Definition Audio"? As I've read that this patch can only be applied under XP SP2. I'm here on XP SP3 (which doesn't need the patch?). Hhhmmm, I'm totally confused here.

    Question mark 2: Ethernet Controller
I think this is related to "Wireless: Intel Wireless LAN (abgn, abg, bg) ". While installing "Intel PROSet/Wireless Wifi Software" drive package, I installed only Intel WiFi Link Driver as default, and unchecked "Intel PROSet/Wireless Wifi Software" (which are really utilities to me). Do I need to install the whole 77.5mb package to get rid of Question mark 2? Or will reinstalling ghe driver alone work?

Hope what I've written makes sense. Thanks for advising!

    1. you need to install the nvidia audio driver. you might need to install the uaa driver as well...download the kb888111, then extract it. the driver is inside.

    2. you shouldn't need PROSet.

install system update. it should be able to install the right drivers for you. (uninstall it afterwards if you're pedantic)
