ThinkPad Shipping Delays - Custom Problems?

Anyone else out there in cyber space experience hold up in their ThinkPads shipping due to US Custom related problems? As I understand Lenovo products that are imported from China are being held up for 7-10 business days due to some kind of Custom problem that has not been worked out.

 

I don't know about Levono, but when I ordered my Fujitsu, I seem to remember seeing a similar "customs problem" when it was shipping. It definitely took a couple of weeks to get to me, and I think I remember seeing something about customs when I was tracking it via the internet. HTH

 

There's a lot of people with this problem, it seems anything coming in from China is getting inspected by the FDA. It's delaying ThinkPad shipments by up to 10-days.

 

just to take a stab at it, it's probably quarantine for bird flu or something

 

My T43 was supposed to shipped on 1/12,but I just checked the status a min ago, it said "Back-ordered.Call for further information."...... I am mad because when I ordered it(12/28), the sales representative told me it was in stock and ready to ship once they added the extra RAM..and now it is back-ordered? And I just got the 9-cell battery from UPS today. What should I do with it if I dont have my laptop T_T

 

Ugh, my order which was shipping in 2-4 weeks just moved to backordered. Maybe this is a sign from god to switch to the hated mac

 

I might switch to Asus lol. Does anyone know if I cancel my order now, do I have to return the free leather case I got with the laptop?

 

Not to jack the thread or anything, but those of you who have ordered recently, what kind of shipping times have you seen?

 

This is just the memory card. I still have not recieved the laptop yet

I ordered my T43 on the 18th ("within two weeks" was the promise) nad it was shipped from Hong Kong on the 22nd. It was held for about a day in Louisville, arrived on the 27th, would have made it on the 26th but that was the Christman legal holiday.

Very satisfied; the case and extra memory took 10 days longer, the memory came from Malaysia and I don't recall the origin of the case.

 

That seems pretty quick for being that close to Christmas.

Either that or my logic is flawed and things actually ship faster around Christmas : p

 

okay,my status changed from "back-ordering" to "Packing" yesterday. Hopefully it ships out tonight like what the estimated ship day says.

My Z60t has been "Packing" since about Dec. 27th (ordered on Dec. 17th). I called customer service Wed. and was told it would definitely ship by the end of this week. I called today to get a tracking number, and was told no, it looks like it will ship the week of the 23rd. When I threatened to cancel, the customer service rep took my number and promised to call me by Monday (today is friday).

 

I did not experience any 'customs' related delays on the Z60M ordered on 12/8. It left China on Wednesday morning and the UPS guy was at my door door this morning. I confirmed departure day/times. Package spent just two hours in Louisville. Not sure why this shipment cleared customs much quicker than most others.
Specs...Pent M760 2.0Ghz, 1GB Ram, 100GB HD, ATI X600-128MB, Max Bright Screen ( it is bright)

 

yeah, didn't have any problems getting my z60t. ordered 1/2 and received today 1/13. actually, ordered two, one of which i need to return. that one was ordered 12/30 and will receive it on tuesday 1/17. haha, if anyone in the bay area wants it, i can sell it to you at cost- it was really cheap! otherwise, it's going back. hrm... yeah, since i've received so much help from this site, i guess i can post it to see if anyone wants it. =)

A few strange things just happened...

First off, all "will ship today" and other shiiping estimates have been completely removed from the Lenovo webpages as of tonight.

Secondly, the X41 tablet (think express model 18695CU) that was supposedly in stock when I ordered it earlier this week and had been sitting as "packing" with a 1/12, then 1/13, then 1/14 ship date in order status just started showing a 1/30 ship date.

What do you think is going on? I really wanted to get my new laptop this week. Should I just go to CDW?

 

I have noticed all the ship dates removed almost each weekend, to return the next monday. They might just be updating the systems for "more" correct shipping dates.
