    Today my ThinkPad T500 did a back flip off of a laptop stand. Not surprisingly it survived mostly in tact

    I was wondering if anybody else had some unique stories of your ThinkPad's durability being tested. Lets hear your "Legends of ThinkPads"

    "Mostly" intact?

    What's that supposed to mean?

    I hope my T510 will be sturdy.

    Well, fortunately, I have been VERY lucky with how I handle my Thinkpads (knock on wood lol). However, last year I had my T61 on top of a suitcase (I just got off the plane, and was unpacking it at my cousins house). It was late at night, and I had the power cable running across the floor (I know, bad idea). Anyway, I tripped over the power cord, and my T61 flew off the suitcase, and went slamming down (3 feet or so) to the floor.
    Not a scratch on it, and she still works fine today (in fact, I'm typing with the same T61 right now).
    I know it's not nearly a "bad" story, but that's the only close encounter I've had with any accidents with any of my current laptops.

    Well the screen was open at the time and one of the tabs on the bezel was nicked off. Beyond that the computer was fine.

    The X300 is a warhorse. I dumped a 16oz glass of water and ice in it a while back, and it took it like a champ. Dried it out, and it works as
    good as it ever did - just has a cleaner keyboard! I wrote about my
    adventure here -> http://lenovoblogs.com/insidethebox/?p=62#comment-69489

    You washed it out right? Or did you just replace the keyboard.

    I think surviving the long journey through UPS is probably a feat in itself... ;)

    I don't know if any of you have worked with UPS in a business environment before, but some of their practices are... ugh. I'm surprised ANYTHING arrives in one piece. I've seen some pretty weird things completely destroyed by them. :eek:

    The floating laptop packaging is pretty good. And it takes a lot of force to crush corrugated card board. Has to be pretty intense to damage the machine.

    I just wished they used semi-hard foam or something for the holders instead of that dingy plastic. Some kind of padding on both sides of the laptop would be good to instead of just being held by the sides.

    My T400 fell off the bed while I was sleeping. Lid was open. No damage. It's a 2 foot drop to a hardwood floor and not even a scuff.

    My X61 Tablet has tumbled around the back seat/floor of my car (I'm a terrible driver) and I stepped on it a few times. Nothing major though.
