Hello,
I'm having difficulties removing the inconvenient power-on password from my T42; I *do* know the password, so I'm not asking for ways to hack or circumvent the security in place. I know the forum rules.
The problem is that when I navigate the BIOS options and select the power-on BIOS password, all I get is a dialogue box allowing me to change the password, but not to remove it. I've tried resetting the BIOS to default settings (F9) and looking through the BIOS help menus, with no result. I have the latest BIOS version from Lenovo's website. Does anyone know how to get rid of the password without hacking or circumventing the security in place? After all, I do know the password; I set it myself.
Any help is appreciated.

Try entering your old password in the old box, then leave the new password box & confirmation box empty by pressing enter twice.
I tried in on the T42 BIOS simulator Lenevo provides and it disables the password by doing so.

That was embarrassingly easy. Thanks a lot for this solution. Now I am saved the inconvenience of typing my password on every boot.
