    Dear Lenovo Experts,

I was using Lenovo Thinkpad 1400 (company provided) and I really in love with Thinkpad : ).

Now I decided to buy T420 with the following specifications

    Lenovo ThinkPad T420, Intel® Core™ i7 2640M Processor (4M Cache, 2.80 GHz), 4GB Ram, 500GB / 7200rpm, Screen 14.0" HD+ AG, (3G) WWAN Capable, NVIDIA N12P-NS1 1GB Optimus,Y-AMT,Y-Cam HD 720p, Y-Mic,Y-BT,UltraNav, Y-FPR, Intel 6205 AGN, Battery 9cell 94WHr, 90W, Ms Windows 7 Pro 64Bit, 3 Years Warranty

The above one is costing me 1400 USD, I am based in Riyadh (Saudi) and I will be buying directly from Lenovo Saudi.

    My queries are

    1) Is price reasonable or expensive with above mentioned specifications? Please note three years warranty is also their with this price
    2) Another think the chipset is H77, Can I easily upgrade to 16Gig Ram, It has two DDR3 slots.
    3) Can i have mSATA HD easily connected to this laptop later on.
    4) is QM Processors (Quadcore) is compatible with HL77 chipset.

Thanks in advance for your support and valuable suggestions.

    Thanks & Best Regards
    Muhammad Nasim

From an European perspective it's about right considering the specifications and additional warranty included, I take these machines are pre-configured in Saudi Arabia?

You can run 16GB RAM on the T420 using 2x 8GB DDR3 SODIMM modules, I have this setup myself and it works fine.

Yes, a mSATA drive can be added on to the T420 but be aware it will take over the WWAN (3G) slot should you use it.

I think you're a bit confused as the current chipset number for ThinkPad Sandy Bridge notebooks is QM67. But nonetheless the T420 should be able to take certain mobile Sandy Bridge Quad Core processors (QM) without much problem since there are a number of users who are happily running a i7-2720QM in their T420 with no problems.

    Hi Hearst,

Thanks a lot for your reply, by HL77 chipset I meant motherboard : ).

Can you confirm from the specifications that following are included

    Finger Print reader

Yes, this is a pre-configured laptop and it seems to me a very good configuration of T420 including BT, HD-CAM, Nvidia Graphics card , 9cell battery 90w and others.

I also configured same specification for T420 via Lenovo website and it was saying 1350$ after all discounts, so it seems to be best bet and most importantly the machine is available here in Riyadh and i can get it in a day : ).

Any thing to look for before placing order, i will be very thankful as I am buying my personal laptop after a longtime.

seems to indicate that there is a fingerprint reader.
