Seems like a fairly solid product, since Atom isn't nearly as anemic as it was before. The 16:10 1920x1200 display is a great upgrade as well. Major downside is the lack of a nice keyboard dock, though. If Lenovo came up with a good one, I'd be very interested in the Tablet 8.

No Wacom Pen in an otherwise great 8" tablet. :( Pen input is critical to me in an 8" device. Asus VivoTab Note 8 looks like the better device IMHO.

Never heard of that asus one yet. I'll check it out. Wacom pen would be really nice, but I'm okay without it since I already have a ThinkPad Yoga and Surface Pro. I think I'd really like an 8" windows tablet, but I am still trying to figure if I'd really need one. I'd probably mainly use it for:

    -Agenda/Calendar
    -Web browsing
    -Viewing notes
    -Viewing outlines for public speaking
    -To do lists
    -E books and PDF's
    -Music/Videos

More of a consumption device than a work device for sure.

I'm really interested to hear from anyone who actually owns and uses it. Perhaps those who did order it are still waiting for it to ship

Only Thinkpad I've used for more than 2 hours was the L420 which was borrowed to me for a few months. Nice machine, same dimensions as my current laptop. but better build quality. Great battery life, but i'm not a fan of having the battery stick out the back. Also my Haswell with 72w/h has around the same battery life as Sandy Bridge with 94w/h.

My only gripe was the Touchpad, it was god awful. Also the screen wasn't impressive (768p + dim) but that didn't bother me much. Could have bought a L440, but it came out 4 months too late, lacked a GPU and was 200$ over budget.

Note that i am not a Trackpoint kinda guy.

    /derail

I'm debating if i need a Tablet at all, but if i do end up buying a tablet, this will be a top choice, simply because of the gorgeous screen, the Full-Blown OS and the Ultrabook-Like performance.

looks really interesting, i am also considering a tablet just because my work when i travel is minimal, don't need a full blown laptop, however just need something to run windows and watch movies and have a usb port + dock.

i have put my order in, and i have tested the pre-release product. I have to say, it is a better built machine than the TPT or TPT2.

The TP8's main competition just showed up in the Microsoft store. Hey Lead ... tell your friends that this thing needs a pen. :D

Yea. The 32GB version has appeared. Buy ASUS VivoTab Note 8 M80T Touchscreen Tablet (32GB) - Microsoft Store No where near as good a device as the TP8 but if, like me, Wacom pen is a must, it's the only game in town in 8" format. I'm still unhappy that Lenovo omitted a pen. Would have made a great companion to my X301 and Lumia 928.

Had too many bad experiences with ASUS, otherwise i would have already bought the T100.

I hear you. I'm not a big fan of Asus, but at $299 base price for a Wacom 8" tablet that seems to work reasonably well, I think it's a no brainer. Since its on sale at the MS store you can get total care for an extra $99 and still be well under the TP8's price. I don't want to derail this thread so I'll be quiet now.

Well there is that, and there is the fact that the TP8 costs 469$ here in Canada, plus the fact that the TPT2 with digitizer AND USB ports is only 300$ on eBay.ca. Thing is I heard the TPT2 has a really weak CPU and I'm not fond of the 768p screen.
