Is that you or did you find these pictures?
Well lol, though i really would find it stupid to do such a thing unless my Thinkpad was broken... could have longterm affects on the machine.. -
Can't say the use of the computer as a hat really conveys much other than the stupidity of the wearer. I think the Lenovo site has some horror stories, though.
-
Yeah. Some of the stories here are amazing.

OOhh no, if you do the translation from Simplified Chinese to English, they are just talking of how tough the laptop is. The hat when raining, scraping the snow etc have all captions talking of its water resistant constructions... its amusing though.
-
is this BEFORE or AFTER lenovo got thet thinkpads?
What model? -
The site looks more like a good joke than anything else -
it's a T2x, can't tell more closely than that.
-
ok... Anyway the 'new' thinkpads won't be able to do that. How the heck those T2x doing that... THE THING IS SO FLIMSY... lol.
-
how much have you used one?

WHy do people have so many negative thoughts about new Lenovo product? When you think that Lenovo been with IBM before it took over...
On what did you based your assumptions? Personally I'd say, lets wait t'ill u try new product before doing comments. Z60 is only 1 product. -

They just don't seam to have the dedication. They screwed up the real chick looks by striping the red-blue stirips, fn button colors, Access IBM, volume and power buttons. They have removed the S-Video port. Their ThinkVantage updates seam to be having loads of bugs and people still stick to previous ones. They have definitely made some stuff better, but they also messed with stuff that absolutely did not need to.. They need to get their act togather better and I really hate the new looks.. now the thinkpad is not very different from their 3000 series or any other lappies when it come to looks.
They also rounded the edges of the Z series!!! Gosh.. how dumb can they get.. -
-
I'm not happy with Lenovo. They RUIN PRODUCT... They have a EX DELL (plastic) hint hint... It is bad. They changed everything. More flexing. The body is made from cheaper parts (I thought). The service changed to. Now I got to register (takes like 35 mins)...
-
it's always amusing to see people bashing lenovo without real hard facts. instead, they just use opinions and rumours they read from some forum.
DON'T BUY A LENOVO MADE THINKPAD IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT. simple as that. -

It took IBM probably several years of dedication and vision to create an un-disputed identity for their ThinkPads. You don't have to read the name tag to realize that it is a ThinkPad and it for this reason they did not even change the looks of their laptops unless it was necessary. Lenovo one fine day just strips the ThinkPads of this meticulously created identity. The cosmetic changes they made were not at all required and they did a worse job at it too. Why change something that has a unique well respected identity to make it look more like all the other brands out there?? They tried to make the ThinkPads look plain because that is what most other manufacturers are trying to do. They made rounded edges for the Z series, again because that is what most others are doing. IBM never designed ThinkPads to reflect the trends of other brands... they instead went against the norms making a pure black ThinkPads with boxy sharp edges and fine touches of color to extentuate its beauty.... They made the computer boxy because it made the laptop look smaller, they did not include the windows key but instead included a maping software so as to facilitate the most done task.. TYPING. Most things were done for a valid REASON and not to blindly copy the competetion and in order to do that, one needs the dedication and love to make the best and most usable product. Lenovo is following other brand trends because they don't havce this dedication.. and that is my biggest problem with Lenovo. I would love to see them prove me wrong as I will need to buy one in future.
So my friend, it is you who have not thought about it. -

The link was pretty lame... it doesn't say that the computer still works.
Anyway, Lenovo still makes the Thinkpad just as good as IBM did. People are just more critical about their quality because they THINK Lenovo is some cheap company due to mishaps in the past. In reality, the Thinkpads are just as good as they used to be... it's just that people are complaining at every little "flaw" and pointing the finger at Lenovo right away. -

""Oh I agree, I'm sure it's all just a big joke""
Don't know about the joke on those pictures, but my A30 was baptized with a glass of hot water while working and thrown on the floor without a mercy by the nicest lady you can ever meet in my house. All I had to do is take the lid off, take the lady's hair dryer, dry it up, put everything together and wolla, back to work again. Talk about toughness. -

And you should keep in mind that Z-series is cheap, intended mainly to "mobile home multimedia blaa blaa"-market. You shouldn't compare it to T-series. What can you get for "half the price" that T-series cost? I have here T23, T40 and Z60something (with the 15" screen). T23 is my old work laptop but those two others travel around europe in snowboard competitions. T40 did whole last season and good part of that season. It looks like it has been used as a powertool but nothing too serious. Z60something has been travelling only since january and it already dropped all its arrow keys. It also departed with a piece of its casing (from corner) and it's "smiling" a little bit. It also feels like "plastic" (but it is plastic!). T40 is much more rigid, has titan composite casing and I bet my ass it has different type of keyboard too (even the material of those keys feel more "solid").
My friend has similar Z60... and he is totally happy with. It can compare to anything in its (little)league.
Just like MERCEDES and mercedes(the one that fell over, you remember) -
-
Actually, it's not me who broke that thing, it's the tour crew that abuses those helpless laptops. They are here for a little maintenance from time to time. I saw the Z60 when it was new in january and now there just isn't those keys anymore (the keycaps or what you call them, are missing but you can still press them).
You should see what happened to two Fujitsu Siemens laptops last season -
My 4 years old A30 holds every key in place since I got it. I use same keyboard all the time, type every day and whole day, NOTHING is loose, nothing is missing, nothing is not working. All the keys are polished to the shiny appearance, and still do the same thing they did when I got the laptop from Ubid.com (meaning it was used before me). Tough as nothing out there.
-
I know that ThinkPads are extremely tough. That's why I'm getting one in a few months. However, looking at that website, it appears to have been made as a joke. That's allI meant. -
Yeah, I know. I just added some facts to the table to make it even funnier.. sordov

From another interesting perspective....

Going back to the original post, it's an old geekey joke I saw somewhere else. And even if a TP is as tough as the guy makes it, I am not brave enough to try that with my T43
-
Ok, I tested the strength of my T43. I dropped it from the second floor onto the carpet below. My T43 exploded. Time to get a new one. This is probably the dumbest experiment that I have ever performed...
-
JP -
I was kidding. What kind of idiot drops his laptop 9ft to the ground to see how tough the notebook is? I wouldn't even drop my T43 2ft.

I guess I'm your idiot, Karl. -
I still have my old Texas Instruments TI-81 calculator. That think could handle a 3 floor drop.
-
friend of mine in HS accidentally ran over his TI-82 with his Camaro. It was fine.
-
Amazing, and I have one of those
, and so does my sis.

TAlking about calculators... I recent;y used an HP and its so confusing when compared to a Casio.. Don't know haw the TI one is it terms of ease of use.
-
At my university every students has to have the latest calculator from Texas Instrument - Ti Voyage 200.
Friend of mine dropped it from 1st floor while running in stairs. The battery and the cover went everywhere but after putting back the batts the calculator was still working fine. Fortunately because he had all he's formula and useful engineering program in it and it was end of the term.
I've played with my friend new Z60 and its pretty rugged. So I think Lenovo like Ti's is getting better and better^^ -
I do everything with my Voyage 200. Derivation, triple integrals, solve equations with multiple variables, expand functions. You can also download extra programs in it such as EEpro which let you solve almost any Electrical problems.
275$ is a bit high for a calculator but depending on which field you are, it can be very helpful. Beside, if your using a Thinkpad you probably want the best calculator also -
What is that? Of course we demand the best!
JP -
isn't that calculator like the size of a PSP (or bigger)?
and maple syntax is cr@p, so I wouldn't use it as a basis for anything -
i ran my chevy Cobalt over the HP dv1420us, was shocked that the lappy is still working properly, only a small scratch at one corner and a heavily cracked LCD screen. replaced it with the new screen and using it now. i wonder if my T61 can do it better than the HP. he he

No offense, but I don't think you're supposed to bump 1.5 year old threads.
