    Heya gang

was just wondering what the demand on the X230 and W230 was?

    Ive got an x230 i5 with IPS 16GB RAM/ 380GB SSD and a w230 95% adobe rgb display 32gb ram 960gb sad quad core i7 with quadro k1000m 2gb gddr5.

i was wondering what the demand and pricing would be on these machines? no warranty.

i wanted to get opinions from those using lenovos which is why i didn't post in price check forum so mods please leave this thread here.

    thanks

I'd say that there's a decent demand for both of these models.

Having said that, downgrading them to more palatable set of specs and lowering the prices of the machines while selling the upgrades separately would likely help your cause.

    My $0.02 only...

Go on eBay, search for your model, and refine the search results to: "Sold listings." Best way to get a rough idea of market value.

While this approach is generally a sound one, OP is highly unlikely to find too many sold machines that were as maxed out as his are...

Don't know about the W530, but there are quite a few "maxed-out" X230's on eBay.

Maybe...but OP really went overboard with his ThinkPads, check out the listings he posted on Bill Morrow's ThinkPad Forum and you'll understand why I'm saying this, as well as why I have recommended downgrading these units and selling stuff separately...

The low-end eBay prices are usually a decent baseline to which you could add the cost of a 1TB SSD or 32GB RAM, etc and get a ballpark figure for the high-end prices... I'd agree that parting out loaded machines is a better way to go though.

The answer to that question will depend on several factors:

    a) How fast do you want to sell the machine?

    b) How flexible you are with the pricing?

Mind you - I'm NOT a buyer by any stretch of imagination - but AM someone who has sold many ThinkPads in his days...

You may want to sit down and re-calculate pricing on various configuration options for W530. That's what I would do if I had such a machine at my disposal.

TPF is a tough, but honest crowd. Very different from feebay which pretty much stands as your only other option at this time, apart from NBR...

Well, there's CL, but that's probably a lot like eBay. I've gotten some great deals like my R60 and X200t, both of which had warranty that wasn't even mentioned in the item description while other machines had broken parts or like like they came from a digital sweatshop.
