As the W550s is the first of the classic ThinkPad models now available in the US, it might be a good idea to start a owners thread for it. T550 is almost identical, with only minor differences.
W550s is available since today on Lenovo.com: http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/thinkpad/w-series/w550s/
T550 is not yet available, but when it is, it can be found here: http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/thinkpad/t-series/t550/
Major/minor differences between both according to PSREF:
- W550s seems to be only available with i7-CPUs (i7-5500U or i7-5600U)
- All W550s come with the nVidia Quadro K620M - T550 is available with Intel HD 5500 or GeForce 940M
- No HD option on the W550s, only FHD TN and FHD++ IPS

Thinking about getting a W550s to replace my T440s (because I need more power), but they price is so high...although there is a good offer in Germany: http://www.campuspoint.de/lenovo-campus-thinkpad-w550s-20e1s00n00.html

I'm trying to understand the target market for W550S. It's max CPU I7-5600U has 3864 avg cpu mark ( https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Core+i7-5600U+@+2.60GHz&id=2456). The X230t, I just got, has I5-3320m with 4012 avg cpu mark. Am I missing anything? Both have 16GB of RAM
The large screen is great, but is that enough to call it a workstation? We still have to see how's battery life.
Also, dell's m3800 is thinner and has a twice as much powerful cpu, i7-4712HQ with avg cpu mark of 7608. -
