Do you think it can go to stores before December?
-
Absolutely not - January/February.
-
fu** have a friend that will come to Portugal next December :s
-
I hope that they don't include that stupid adaptive strip again. If they do, I'll laugh so hard...
-
-
Adaptive strip has been the least of my problems with this thing. I actually like the adaptive strip, but then again I never use function keys for work.
-
any further info about the new gen? would it just be an incremental upgrade? IF that's the case might as well wait for another 5-8 months for skylake?
-

Considering how bad the X1 Carbon Haswell turned out, I'm eager to see whether Lenovo learned its lesson. -
-
What about prices and eta in Europe?
-
I don't have any ETA or prices for any region.

That's a tiny space bar! I don't understand what are the keys that are responsible for the shrink.

I'm hoping that the keyboard shown is a special Asian edition that has a compressed keyboard. Maybe the English version will have a regular keyboard.

The keyboard shown is a Japanese layout (because ThinkPad development is in Japan) - see for example this Japanese T430s: http://thehikaku.net/pc/lenovo/image/t430s-key1.jpg

I didn't pay much attention initially but, look, there is Ctrl in the left bottom corner! ?! Where is Fn???!!!
-
Seems to me like a render picture, where someone removed the Adaptive keyboard row and added the TrackPoint buttons, but forgot to correct the rest of keyboard layout - a Photoshop fail. Rest assured, the new X1 Carbon will have an FN key, without one, you couldn´t use it - and it won´t have 2x Home and End...

Take a look onto Carbon 2nd gen keyboard -- it does not have dedicated Fn key either. To me, it looks like somebody who designed 3rd gen keyboard decided to keep the combined Esc + Fn key as it was there on the 2nd gen! Read key captions, they speak the same -- Fn moved away from Ctrl towards Esc
-
Nope, you are wrong. The X1 Carbon 3 will have a dedicated FN key.
On the X1 Carbon 2, the FN key is actually part of the adaptive keyboard row - not part of the Esc key.
Also notice the strongest evidence: Two Esc keys! This internal render picture is just a photoshop failure^^Last edited: Dec 24, 2014BinkNR likes this. -

OK, let's wait for CES 2015 -- I believe it will be presented there -- and see the keyboard in action
-
Love ya work... but will this keyboard have F1,F2 etc like Gen 1? I hope so. -
Horrible inaccurate article^^ The X1 Carbon is not going to be released with Core M.

I believe this will be the keyboard (something very similar to 440s)

You guys think the 2560 x 1440 (non-touch) upgrade would be worthwhile? Or would it be overkill on Windows 8.1? What impact would it have on battery life you think?
Non-touch
- 14.0" FHD TN (1920 x x1080) - 300nit
- 14.0" WQHD IPS (2560 x 1440) - 300nit -

Main issue I have is that I'd want a Thinkvision monitor with a matching resolution with the laptop and there are no 1440p Thinkvision displays.
I have my eye on this and it's unfortunately just 1080p

Whereas this Pro2840m is 3840x2160 (and also seems to have refresh issues from searching lenovo forums)

I'm a big fan of higher resolution (and IPS!) otherwise and wouldn't hesitate to get the upgrade if there is no dramatic battery impact and the above two points are solved -
-
TN panel?! Unbelievable
-
Anyone ordered one yet? I'm about to press the button...
-
I just did an online configuration and it came to just over $3000 CDN. (non-touch QHD, i7, 500GB PCIe)
Hmmm... going to have to wait a bit and see if pricing settles down. -
In chat now with a sales rep, asked for a ecoupon, let's see if I get it. -
placed the order. The sales rep gave me a discount for approx $130. Just ask for a coupon...
-
I've had one for a few weeks, and it's glorious! More later.
-
I ordered one as well.
Now to pray that Lenovo releases a ThinkVision monitor with 2560x1440 resolution -
Fingers crossed!!
-
Could I run this at 2560x1440?

Does anyone have access to the new TABook.pdf file listing the various configs of the X1C 3rd gen? I found one dated December 2014, but it doesn't have the new configurations in there. Thanks!

Hah, gotcha.
What's the estimated ship date for your Carbon? Congrats on the purchase. -
Nevermind...
